Not loops, but old school Eddie has sampled vocals for his Ensoniq EPS 16+......

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

You might want to google soundfonts for oohs and aahs. It you currently can’t use SF2s there are free SF2 VSTi’s you can use )SFZ+ is one of the players). There are some goods ones out there as I have used some in the past and in fact I may still have them if you can’t get any.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

The MIDI ooh or aah patch can do that already. You control whether it is one note or not...

What do you do when you need actual lyrics? (Why Eddie loves his vocoder.....)

I have samples in sampletank, and SFZ, and some are great, but those begin to sound robotic at times. I can sing my own and use my TC Helicon voice works, but sometimes it begins to sound like a lot of "Robs" singing background. With the new looping feature i hope to take simple oohs and aahs and have them follow the chord pattern for easy blending of backup vocals.

Robh, I'm sure you already know that the voiceworks can change the sound of each backup voice to the extent that they sound like different people... even different genders. There's no reason your backup vovalists all have to sound like you. IMO, this approach would sound more realistic than most other options short of actually hiring a singer for those parts

Yeah Pat I do know that, and have to explore it more deeply, but still the further you take a vocal patch away from your original the more it begins to sound unreal.

The other thing that bothers me is that to use the TC unit live you have to program each and every tidbit, of each and every voice, and then remember how to get it back for the next song. A tall order when you change set list often. It is hard enough to get it back to default after a song.

I am just exploring the options here. It's funny i have been using a combination of my voice, sampletanks beachboys patch, and TC helicon. Sometims it is just nailed, and other times too little or too much.

One thing i am working with is to take the midi ohhs and aahs in a track, and smooth them out lengthen some notes shorten others drag them so that they never end all at once, and sound fake.

That gave me a huge laugh Mac, and here's why.

A month ago I was looking to buy a new TV. I started reading reviews of the various models and came across a review from a guy who was OUTRAGED because his remote died and it took 2 months for the company to replace it. And in his review, and I SWEAR this is true, he stated:

"So for 2 whole months I was stuck and couldn't watch TV!!!"

Why was I not inclined to put too much faith in a review from a guy who couldn't figure out that he could actually operate a television without a remote?

So yes, if you want vocals, you could indeed always just sing.

Eddie, a similar story.
A lady called roadside assistance as she couldn't unlock her car, because the remote zapper was broken.
The mechanic took the key from her, popped it into the door lock, and turned it.

Has the guy ever heard of a universal remote?

Seriously yes i can sing them, and do often. I harmonize fairly well, but an looking for more variety, and options.

Rob, you really think that guy could have programmed a universal remote?

"What does this mean: 'Enter the code'?"

Rather than modifying patches on the fly by changing parameters with CCs, a much simpler approach (since you probably don't use all the patches anyway) is to start at patch 1 and overwrite the factory setting with exactly what you want for your first song. You can even save it as the song's name.

Then just cycle through the patches for each song. If you ever decide to sell it, do a factory reset.

Or Pat, have it cycle thru for you by calling up the next song with CCs

Eddie, there's a code?!?!?

After 40 years in the electronic service industry, I could tell some doozies. One, off hand, was a lady who called to complain that her brand new TV didn't work, "The "clicker" was broke!" The technician arrived to find that she had forgotten to plug the TV in. Since manufacturers don't pay for "customer education" calls, the technician had to get very creative in writing up his report. Something like: "Inspected and found open circuit in power supply, repaired open circuit.

Mac knows the ramifications of such. The service calls get compiled into a book form by NARDA then sold back to member service companies for big loonies. LOL

Rob,
how do you play your backing tracks? Do you use the jukebox function with RB and play sequences? Or do you create MP3s and play them from a play list? The reason I ask is that depending on how you play the trax can influence the best way to set the voiceworks.

It takes so long to load a SEQ file that I've been making my backing trax into a single mixed audio file... but if I play just the audio, then I lose the ability to control devices with CCs

so my final "play files" are SEQ files containing nothing but the single audio file plus midi tracks containing nothing but CCs to control all my devices, and midi data needed for the voiceworks. This keeps the file small enough that it can be called up with the juke box, but it still gives me lots of control.

Each SEQ file can call up whatever voiceworks patch you want to use for that song... so you can manually (at home) set all the parameters for each patch, then just call up the patch in real time. For me, that's much easier than trying to set all the CC commands to set patch parameters in every song.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
