Soliloquy
The Young Son's Song
-------------------------
Song #2 in the Trilogy. Here, the Young Son is reflecting/meditating the morning after returning to the Father.

Maybe my most difficult song to produce, since it's all free-form...not being a confident performer, I couldn't rely on Style or RT's or even entering chords in BIAB to create the structure. It's taken me a long time to get this to a point where I wasn't frustrated and unhappy with it.

Melody relies on #4 tones as passing tones to major chords.
------------------------

I open my night eyes, and I see where I am;
There's a fragrance so fresh in the air;
My pillow is sweet, and a robe's at my feet;
And the ring on my finger's still there.

I look in the mirror--it's the face of a prince;
And I'm dressed in the clothes of the court.
Amazed that it's so, 'cause the man that I know
Who returned was a much different sort.

 Low was the road I wandered,
Lusting for evil and sin;
Wasted my selfish young years;
The shame who I've been..

I gaze in the mirror and I can't understand
How his mercy could loose what I'd done;
Too filthy to hide, but his arms opened wide
And my father said, "Welcome, my son!"

Nice song. It held my interest throughout and you've got a well mixed clear production. I could hear a little of your lack of confidence in the vocal in spots but you have a very nice voice so hang in there. This is a quality write and production and I look forward to hearing more from you soon. Enjoyed listening.

Really interesting song.

I like the free form aspect. It has that modern art sound going on big time.

Very creative!!

Excellent!

You are an excellent musician as well as a singer and songwriter.

I can picture Michael Bublé singing this!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Hello, Tom

This song is so beautiful!
Excellent melody and chord progression!
A little bit Tom Jobim's feel.
A little bit Michel Legrand's touch.
I love this much.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Wow - simply put, this is beautiful. I love how stripped down the backing tracks are. It gives it an almost haunting quality. I really like experimental music, and this is right on the cusp of what I'd consider that.

A great example of what Band-in-a-Box is capable of here. Thanks for sharing smile

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
