Hey Y'all,

This may be the most thoughtless song I have ever written.

I literally gave it no thought. None whatsoever. It was all about a Stratocaster and an amp, and I just sat down and did it, and laughed my way through it the entire time. 100% thoughtless and 100% fun.

All Pretty Girls

By David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs4/all-pretty-girls

V1

Once I met a girl
I was young
And she smelled like a rose
I was so much in love
That I bent down and kissed on her toes
She said she would love me today and all of my life
The next day she took off with my friend
And that wasn’t right

CH

Why do all pretty girls
Just make you break down and cry
Why do all pretty girls
Never even tell you why
[repeat]

V2

So I drove to Phoenix
To find her and tell her some things
And win her heart back with a shiny diamond ring
In front of a trailer she had a baby poking out of herself
I said man it’s time to put my love back up on that shelf

Bridge

Oh People
I have admit it
As long as I live
I will never get it

CH

Why do all pretty girls
Just make you break down and cry
Why do all pretty girls
Never even tell you why
[repeat x 4] with gut-wrenching solo as well

David,

Pretty excellent . . . even more so for a "thoughtless" song, LOL!! A stellar vocal that really wrings out the emotion (one your best vocals, IMHO) and the mix is spacious and crisp. Love the closing guitar solo (and guitar work throughout). Oustanding!

For a "thoughtless" song not too shabby at all . . . good lryics, expressive vocals and a good mix.

My songs, on the other hand, require every last brain synapse I can muster and then some wink

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

A guitar & amp can provide all the inspiration needed...muscle memory, long developed patterns & spontaneity appear in the speaker and mouth.
I like it - the package and the contents.

I feel ya pain! laugh Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, co-stared in the movie - co-starred! - tried to shoot myself, then I realised I was in London and I only had a water pistol. … It made me cry. laugh But seriously, I went through a 2 year period in the early 70s in which I lost my new girlfriend to my best friend, next lost a new girl to a friend of the former best friend, then next a 3rd to my new best friend's brother, then to avoid me she went to the new best friend's place and he *%&* her too! "And that wasn’t right"! Great song! … But I didn't really relate to it. … Ok, I did. cry

David, sometimes the bests songs just pour out of our heads.
This is a perfect example of that!
Just let it flow!
Great vocal, lyrics and mix.
IMHO one of if not your best to date.

PS - not all the pretty girls break up and make you cry. I know that for a fact.

I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!

David,

Really, every man is given pain by a cute woman.
This is probably common all over the world.
Your vocals touch my heart.
The guitar solo and chord progression will also make everyone cry.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Cool tune! Fabulous vocals and guitar. Really enjoyed the listen and the smile it put on my face.

Nothing wrong with thinking really hard about a song and finely crafting it with care. But many great songs just write themselves. If you're laughing during the process it's a good sign, I think.

We'll never find out why some songs more or less write themselves and others need serious work, even though the end result is just as good.
This is a pretty good lament, I like the lyrics and how you deliver them.
I would probably have giggled the whole time during the recording.
In some places your Strat fights a bit too much with your vocals, but that's easy to fix.

You need to take this act on the road. You'll need a cape. Like James Brown.
And guys to come out and pick you up from that emotional heap on the stage floor....

Terrific Live sounding Band.

A drop-the-mike vocal performance.

David,

Another KILLER song! You’re firing on all engines here.

Love the feel. Grab the guitar, hit record and just go for it.

Awesome stuff!

I think your thoughtlessness is very inspirational, David. Seriously. Without a doubt there is magic in the emotion. Hey, that Strat is singing. Outstanding. Yep, great idea giving the left brain the day off. Right.

Enjoy whatever happens!

David.
Isn't it great when simple works.
Sometimes it doesn't but this time it does.
Raw emotion wins here.

Not bad for not thinking. It just goes to show how feel sometimes eclipses trained technique. I liked it and applaud your embrace of no rules, Tom

Hi David,

For sure, my favorite from you in quite a while. Maybe thoughtless on my part - Why do pretty girls do all that? Well, if I ever figured out why pretty girls (and most of the others), do what they do, it would probably scare the hell out of me! I refuse to try - I'm not a masochist!

But I do know good entertainment when I hear it. I just heard it - twice. I liked it a lot!

Alan

The message came directly from your subconscious, or more likely, it was automatic writing by the spirit of Prince including the excellent real-tear guitar solo. You are handling the most elemental problem which men will never solve. Enjoyed also the arrangement, the guitar playing, the emotional vocals. Fun and pain in one thoughtfully thoughtless package.

Hi, David.

I don't know you you could so thoughtlessly set down to write a song to break my heart, but you did it.

Well, "break my heart" might be a bit strong.

But I certainly enjoyed your heartfelt heartbreak vocals and guitar, even if you felt no such thing yourself. wink

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
