I have a song file that I think was corrupted because the drum part (realdrums) would occaisionally play a couple of measures in "A" (blue marker) style in a "B" (green marker) section. These two measures had at one time been marked to play "A" substyle, but I changed the blue marker to neutral, so it would continue to play "B" style.

So I copied all of the chords and pasted them into a completely new file, and even changed the realdrums to another type. To my surprise, those two measures did the same thing, that is, they played an "A" substyle that should have been "B".

I again copied the chords, and re-did the whole song in a new file, with the same result.

Help!

Maybe the Copy routine is also copying the rogue B substyle.

Have you tried actually re-entering the chords the manual way into a New file?

The original realdrum style was "Jazz".

I'm sure manually entering the chords will work. It's just time consuming, but actually quicker that doing these posts!

I just re-did the song from scratch, with a new file and manual entry of chords. It worked fine with realdrum "Jazzbrushes". Then I changed the realtrack after the intro to "Jazz" (tempo is 140) with the F5 key menu, and darned if one of the measures then played "A" substyle in a "B" section!

I'm thinking that this might be part of the way "Jazz" realdrums plays at 140 tempo. But never heard this before, and it sounds out of place. I'm befuddled!

If your song is 3 choruses or longer, the middle choruses will play B substyle regardless of part markers. You can turn this off in Song Settings - Vary style in Middle chorus. I've had a few multiple chorus (unfolded) songs where the 2 bar ending sometimes played the B substyle even though it was marked A. I believe it was one of the Bossa Perc drums kits.

If you really want to get to the bottom of the issue, turn on Developer Mode in RealDrums Settings. The lines may be somewhat cryptic but you will see if it is really generating B drums. The line will show the Bar # and if it is a A or B. Here are a few excepts from a song using Jazz drums.

Note the Bar# and the 'Normal,a' or 'Normal,b' parts.

Bar# 18,relbar=6, MaxBars=3, Chose pat#32, line #38 Normal,a sub.,mask=0,dur#bars=2...
Bar# 44,relbar=8, MaxBars=8, Chose pat#78, line #84 Normal,b sub.,mask=2,dur#bars=4...

Yes, someone else reported the same thing (one of the RealDrums styles doing that. Andrew (@pgmusic) spotted the error, and the fix will be in the next patch.

FYI, the Bossa drums that sometimes play a B substyle in an A ending is BossaBrushesPerc^1

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
