This patch will update Band-in-a-Box to Version 2010.5 (Build 302) from any previous Band-in-a-Box 2010 or 2010.5 build. The update must be installed into your existing Band-in-a-Box 2010 folder.

Band-in-a-Box 2010.5 has added over 40 new features and enhancements since version 2010

It will also optionally install the Coyote WaveTable, which is a DXi synth that can be used on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. This is primarily intended for 64-bit Windows Vista and 7 users who are unable to use the Roland VSC-DXi, since the VSC is only compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows. To use the Coyote synth, click 'Use DXi/VST synth" in the MIDI Driver Setup, and select "CoyoteWT" in the DirectX/VST window.

Note: If you are updating a hard drive edition of Band-in-a-Box, be sure to select the correct destination directory - either X:\bb (where X is your USB drive letter) or X:\PGMusic\Programs\bb if the hard drive was purchased prior to September 2009.

There has recently (May 03-2010) been a huge number of enhancements to older RealTracks instruments, including vastly improved endings for most RealTracks. Click here to go to the RealTracks updates page.

Click here if you are looking for RealBand program updates.

Summary of Changes for Build 302 (July 6 2010)

* Changed: If you load a style, it will erase the song's settings for RealTracjs for the 5 instrument parts. Note: This won't erase song realtracks set for Melody or Soloist, unless they are used in the style). So if you want to add a song RealTracks instrument that sticks as you use different styles, either freeze the track, or use the melody or soloist track.
* Fixed: Functions to Change all songs to a specific style, or tempo wasn't running in some cases,.
* Improved: Display of Piano, Acoustic RealTracks in the RT picker improved. Also Metal Guitar Soloists say "Soloists"
* Added: Message if song has style changes with RealTracks, since those are not supported.
* Updated: PDF manual updated.

If you encounter a problem or have a concern with any of the features/functions of Band-in-a-Box, do not hesitate to contact us. Enjoy! -Updated July 6, 2010

I wanted to update to BIAB 2010.5 from BIAB 2010 and the indication was that I had to pay for it so I did. Now when I look at the latest update it says that it will update any BIAB 2010 to 2010.5. Did I not need to spend the money or am I missing something?
Any ideas?

The upgrade is free, but also there are 18 new sets of real tracks that are what you paid for. It is a good price for what you get. So by paying you get the new tracks and the free upgrade at one time.

Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.

How do I know how old my real tracks are and if they updating? There's a hefty amount of updates for them and the DL's are quite large from what I saw.

That's why if your an avid user buy the Everything pak each cycle if you can. You'll be up to date. They also date the updates so if you got the 2010 everything pak or ultra plus pak in Dec you only need updates that came after Dec. Looks like there are indeed 3 BIG updates for 2010.5 even now. It is hard to figure out.Don't feel bad I only have dialup so it means a trip to the local WiFi spot and hang out for a few hours.

Hello Dan,

There are two patches you may be interested in:

http://70.38.78.232/rtpatch/realtracks01-82_update_may03-2010.exe (700 MB)

This RealTracks patch is most likely the one you will want to download. It includes every RealTracks update since August 2009. One of the main purposes of it (and the reason it's a large patch) is to add 4-bar endings to all of the older RealTracks instruments. There is a larger 1-82 patch available too, but you wouldn't benefit from that one unless you are updating styles you purchased a couple years ago.

---
http://67.205.112.69/rdpatch/realdrums1-29_update_may03-2010.exe (200 MB)

This RealDrums patch has all the updates you'll need, unless you are updating styles you purchased a few years ago.

---

Actually, there is also now a RealTracks 83-101 patch. This has some fixes for 83-101 that were discovered since their release a few weeks ago.

Andrew,
If someone purchased the new Everything HD those updates will have been done correct? Except the one for RTs 83-101?

Thanks for the info. I'm still not completely sure what I need at this point. I have an ultra pack, 2010 on a genuine biab usb drive. What does that say, really? I picked it up two weeks ago from a person who said they bought it a month prior. That puts it right around May, when these patches came out. If these DL's weren't so large I wouldn't care- I'd just DL them regardess. Is there any way at all to confirm whether or not someone who has 2010 needs these patches as well?

Have a look at the file creation or modification times of the real tracks / real drums if you find something newer than Dec 2009, you probably don't need the update. But not ALL of these files will be patched, some of them may retain an older date.

Cheers, Andi

If the hard drive was purchased after the release date of the patch, then you don't need to download the patch. Or, look for the file \bb\RealSax.ST2 and see what the Date Modified is. If it is April 20, 2010 then the drive is already patched.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
