Hi All,

Here is a song that I have redone as an acoustic song.

It is called Dreams of you

Hope you like it.

Let me know.

Best regards
Michee

Beautiful song, Michee, and well done. My only negative is your vox effects processor, because in my cans and on my big system both, I'm hearing your more natural voice on the left, and the 'doubled?' or more 'spacey' voice on the right. The net result (for me anyways) is that I hear your voice at being too much left. Also on certain notes, where the 'blend' is a little better, your voice shifts right, (towards center, where it should be) a little, then a couple notes later, back left, creating an unnatural movement. But, let's wait until some others kick in and maybe get some second opinions before doing anything drastic. All and all, very enjoyable. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Later,
Jim

Hi Jim,

You are correct in your comments about my voice shifting around to the left.

I have taken your advice and placed my voice where it should be in the middle.

I have uploaded a new version (same link as above).

Regards
Michee

Ah yes, much better. Levels seem to be really good on my systems, every thing nice and clear. IMHO this song also demo's the amazing power of the realtracks. Very good job.

Hi Michee,
I really liked this song. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a special song for me. I liked the build up as the song progressed and your singing was good. A really nice song. Well done. I will put this in my itunes collection.

Hey Michee,

Nice work! I really loved the way you built the arrangement up. This is quite a different sound from your usual work and I really like the place that the muse has taken you to. It's a beautiful song and is presented with flair. Kudos to you

All the best,
Noel

Hi Noel,

I wanted to try an acoustic sound without all the bustle of my normal songs.

Thanks for taking a listen.

I somehow must have overlooked this one. Glad I listened to it; nice song!
Nice arrangement and a good build-up.

The only thing that caught my ears was the virtual placement of the vocals in the mix. Where the instruments are all nicely placed on the virtual stage, the vocals seem to be located "behind" the stage, as if the singer was not allowed on stage. Perhaps you applied a bit too much compression or eq? Playing around with the reverb will also enable you to "place" certain instruments or vocals.
This is nitpicking as there ever was: the song is fine as it is. But should you seek improvement on this song, the vocal effects would be my advice.

Well done.

Hi Mike,

Yes my vocals can be hit or miss.
I just try to get the song down before I forget it. (senior moments )
If I was going to do a demo for a publisher I would get a better singer than me to do justice to it.
I appreciate your comments and will strive to perfect my vocals.
Thank you for listening and your constructive comments.

Best regards
Michee

No, it's not the way you sang the vocals: that's fine.

It is the way you added effects to the recorded vocals I was commenting on. You did good on the singing. With some different use of effects like compression, eq and reverb you could do justice to your performance.

Hi Mike,

Would you be willing to give me some pointers as to the correct use of compression, EQ etc.
Yes I know I can read about it but a picture is worth a thousand words.
Maybe a small pack of mp3's that show before and after effects with comments would be very useful.

Best regards
Michee

Hi George,

We have a User Showcase forum. It's "one-floor down" from the off-topic forum. It opened up after you posted this song link, but re-posts of previously made song links are welcome. Perhaps you could re-post your message in the User Showcase, so people find all the users' songs in one place. (and of course links to your other originals as well)

This applies to anyone else who has previously posted their song links.... post 'em again in the User Showcase Forum

Note that this is only for original songs, no links to covers or copyrighted songs.

Have Fun!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
