Hi folks.

Is there a way of setting a tempo to .5 of a beat.

I have a track with vocals that's already recorded at 88.5BPM.

It would really benefit from having some reat tracks added.

I can't seem to enter the .5 it's either gotta be 88 or 89.

I'm totally blind so can only use the t88 or control al t method of entering the tempo.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers
Darren

I believe the answer is, No.

You could come close by alternating a measure of 88 with a measure of 89, although even that would get 'off' with the original recording over time. I also realize doing this with F5 would be difficult for you.

Another option is to use an audio editor to speed-adjust the original file to a precise integer tempo.

Maybe this is possible in Realband? In which case you could produce your Real Tracks using that instead.

I've used a number of different software applications for music, and I don't know of any that will have a resolution of less than a whole beat.

I've played classical, rock, blues, salsa, pop, country, and a number of different styles of music and never played any peace at any tempo with a half beat per minute.

How did you come up with 88.5BPM?

Is it possible to change the vocal track with Audacity or another program?

Sorry I can't help more than this.

I was wondering about the .5 myself. How on earth did that happen?

Audacity does have a function to change tempo without chanigng pitch. I don't know about .5 bpm though.

It's easy

ACW to the rescue!! See the tips section. You can create a tempo map down to the thousandths of a second.
Tempos like 85.3877583 are possible (at least it works that way in RB!)

The ACW was made for just this purpose.

Whoops - I missed the blind part .. post the file and I'll make a tempo map if you like.

Both Realband and the free program Audacity offer "change tempo without changing pitch" against a WAV track using a percentage adjustment. That's the good thing.

The bad thing is that there will be a rounding error. If the track is long enough, you may notice loss of synchronization. For example, to slow the track from 88.5 BPM to 88 BPM you'd need to tweak by the percentage 1.005681818181818. Somehow I don't think the result in either program will be quite that precise.

In either program the process involves importing the WAV file, selecting the track, applying the "time stretch" effect, and specifying the desired percentage change. Using "time stretch" in either program will be difficult for you. If you think the result will be close enough with a rounding error, and you can commandeer someone to help you, come on back and we'll try to be very careful in laying out the instructions.

Good luck.

Hi.

The 88.5 wasn't my idea.

It's a vocal track I was using for a remix.

I use CakeWalk's Sonar so I can manipulate the vocal tracks so they fit at 88.0.

Many thanks for all the replies.

Cheers

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
