I have got a strange problem on a song

I have written in a 16 bar song -- chords and notation--and am using it to print notation

The thing is that every time I open the song I have bars 17 and 18 with the same chord as bar 16

I have gone to the song settings and turned off 2 bar endings and as it uses Real Tracks I have turned off --allow 4 bar endings for Real Tracks

I have the number of bars set to 16 and choruses set to 1--I have also set the loop function to off and the fake function to off

I delete bars 17 and 18 and then hit --save--so I assumed it would remove them, but every time I open the song again bars 17 and 18 are there again

I also notice that they are there when I go into notation mode although they dont print out, as I do not put any notes in them

Is this just something that is always there??

I have copied the song from another version of it that does have a 2 bar ending--is that it??

I don't know.

I do know that there are often many *other* settings that get involved when Printing from the Lead Sheet view, so I always first check the OPTIONS there thoroughly when something like this doesn't work as I thought it should.

And if that doesn't do it, maybe something's corrupted, then I try the Options -> Return to Factory Settings button to see if that restores full functionality.

Hi Mac

Tx for that

I tried the Factory Settings route but still the same

I have looked at all the Options I can think of elsewhere but cant find a way to get rid of bars 17 and 18 each time I open the song

I might try creating a brand new song to see if its anything to do with using a copy/paste of an old song that did have a 2 bar ending

Its not a show stopper as I can still print out what I want without 17 and 18 showing up on the sheet--just one of those little things that bug me--time to chill out perhaps

Hi Phil,

I tried setting up a 16 bar song with no ending and no repeats. When I save and then load the song into BIAB, an ending chord appears in bar 17 (although the song only has 16 bars). This chord is the same one as the last chord of my song. Interestingly, although this chord is present, it has no function whatsoever when I play the song. The song ends at bar 16 exactly and plays no further even though there is chord in bar 17. For me, the notation print-out is also correct and ends at bar 16.

Overall, BIAB is doing everything right except for displaying an extra chord in Chord View. It seems to me that this could be the default behavior of BIAB. That is, BIAB is programmed to always show the ending bars and we, as users, are given the option to have BIAB play these ending bars or not.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Noel

Tx for your message

Yes, I tried it with a new song and bar 17 is always there and as you found, if you say NO to two bar ending BinaB doesnt actually play bar 17, but its impossible to actually get rid of it

Just one of those things I guess

Andrew responded in another thread about this that the last chord is there (on the chord grid) for technical reasons. Scroll down to the bottom of the response to see that.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
