After purchasing BiaB UltraPlusPak on HD I downloaded and installed BiaB. Once I received the HD I started the standard Install which integrates install of all of the programs including Real Drums (3.57Gb) and Real Tracks (30.2Gb).
I chose to skip the BiaB Install since it was already installed and just directed the R Drum and RTracks to my custom directories on drive D: (you don't want to install RD and esp RT to your C: drive if you want to keep that partition at a reasonable size for image backup purposes)

Since the install was clearly going to take more than a few minutes I left it to do its job. It finished after what I would estimate 30 min or less. Curiously there were no messages about overwriting any existing files.

After starting BiaB I could not find any of the new styles. Then when I checked "what add-ons do I have" I was surprised to see that no new ones had beeen added at all (I had 66 RT's prior to the update).
I went to c and checked the path, and clicked the Update button. It made no difference.

I called tech support and was told to simply backup the old RDrum and RTracks and then copy them from the inside the BB folder on the HD. I did that and then went back to Prefs/Options Real Tracks and Real Drums
and clicked the VERIFY (which listed the ST2 errors -BiaB thought some of the RD and RT files were on the C drive rather than in my CUSTOM location. So I then clicked UPDATE, which is supposed to update one of the configuration files in BiaB to reflect any changes.

It DOES NOT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose I need to find the default config file, delete it and then it will be recreated. However, the UPDATE button should work as advertised.
I have now spent over 2 hrs screwing around with this and resent having to waste my time.

"I chose to skip the BiaB Install "

I think that's where the problem may have occurred.
That said, thanks for telling us. Support can now look into why that may have happened and how to fix the update button.

It would be really cool if you sent them an email and pointed to this thread so they can read the exact steps. They may catch it here on the forum anyway, but it wouldn't hurt.

I did testing this year. We tried to catch as much as we could.
PGMusic is pretty quick at fixing what they can once they know.

I downloaded and applied the 312 update and that does not help.

In the past dealing with another problem I had tech support tell me to delete that file and next time program loads it recreates it to fix many problems having to do with updating the configuration.

Does anyone know the name of the default configuration file? Could not find it via internet search.

RHarv -thanks for your reponse. I will try the re-install.

Thanks,

This has been reported by several of us over the past days.

See what worked for me (or I thought worked since I still may be missing files from my install.

Hi Dan,

When you install from download links, the ST2 files required for the RealTracks to work get installed with the RealTracks sets.

When you install using the hard drive, the ST2 files get installed with the Band-in-a-Box application.

If you install Band-in-a-Box using links, and you install your RealTracks using the HD, then these ST2 files never get installed at all. Installing Band-in-a-Box using the hard drive's installer will fix it.

Thanks
Kent

Well that sounds tricky. But, my install was entirely from the external HD. No links.

I am going to give it one more try. This time I will actually delete everything on my internal HD (don't worry I have backups) and then reinstall from the external HD. Give me an hour to report back.

Oh, I'm sorry, you were addressing the other Dan not me! I'll step out and start my own thread - don't want to be rude and steal the OP's thread.

RHarv and Kent,

Reinstalling the Programs (BiaB and RealBand) did the trick.

Thanks,

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
