Hi Everyone I am recording a Melody Track using the Record Melody To Melody Track Button. But BB does not let me assign what soundcard patch I want to use for the melody track. How do you change soundcard patches before recording? Tried highlighting the melody track, then going to the melody track patch window, and I can change that to different instruments, but the sound does not change from the default which seems to be a guitar sound. Nothing in the Record Melody Track Box even mentions selecting what GM2 sound you want to record. Thanks MidiVox

Hi All, Heck I still have a copy of Band in the Box for DOS packed away. Recording late at night all the time sometimes the brain just forgets stuff.
More awake today, I realized I forgot to select Thru, then pick a GM2 Sound, then push the Record Melody to Melody Track.

Hi midivox,
When recording MIDI to the Melody track, you are really using the THRU channel first. So the Thru channel patch setting is what controls that.
We play on the Thru channel but it gets recorded to the Melody channel. Once the recording is made and you see the notes on the Melody channel, then we can use the Melody Patch Change on that track for playback purposes. But while recording, your MIDI instrument can send any patch to the Thru for you to hear, or alternatively you can change using the Thru track's dropdown selection as well.

Hi Mac Thanks for the answer, but as you can see from my post right before yours, I had already recalled how to record. I will check out your other Tutorials and stuff. BB has so many features, there are some I have never used. Happy Composing MidiVox

I did see your answer, but posted mine for the benefit of the lurkers and searchers who may be trying to deal with the same problem. I should have noted that.
Have Fun,

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
