First, let me say that I love this new style set but particularly the _DIXIELD Dixieland Rhythm Section, which is my kind of Dixieland. There is a problem for me in using this style: It says it is for a 'Fast Rhythm Section' but the tempo is only 165. I can tell you that most fast Dixieland tunes are more in the range of say 180 up to 240. I am not sure how far you are supposed to stretch the nominated tempo. It does sound great at 180 but keeps crashing. It may be the pianist who is overworked. Is the problem caused by stretching the tempo up too far? At 180, this particular style keeps freezing and the screen pales over. The only way you can get out is by 'X' exiting the program and you lose everything you have entered. I have mentioned previously that we seem to be short of RealStyles that cater for the fast tempos used in all styles of jazz. In the Jazz 'Classic' RealStyles, from which I thought most other RealStyles are derived, there are only the Gypsy Jazz Fast Rhythms at 250, one Bebop Trio at 190 and a Samba at 190. Are faster tempos a problem for RealStyles? Nothwithstanding, I am indeed 'having fun' with my new Audiophile 2012.

Hi,
You can try right-click on any bar, and select 'Song settings' or just press Ctrl-N.
Check on the last option 'This song has playback problems, disable Fast Generation' and see if this helps.
I had other kind of problem, not related to speed, and this setting helps.

For what it's worth, I was able to load the Dixieland Full Rhythm Section RealTracks Demo, set the tempo to 200 and play it with out problems. 2.2 duo with xp sp3 and 3 meg of ram.

Yes, I can also run it at tempo of 200.
In my previous issue, the problem crops up over many edits, tempo changes, adding push to the chords, etc.. the more I edit, the more frequent it hangs. Till a point it hangs every time it generate any changes.
The OP may encounter similar situation here.

Yes! I think it is the setting changes you make that causes it to hang. When I thought it was a tempo problem, I tried just adding the piano from this style to the fast Gypsy Jazz tempos. That also caused it to hang.
I tell you, it's the piano player who is in trouble - 'dizzy' fingers maybe?.

Hi Graham, We're still looking into that problem. We cannot duplicate it so far. We ran the dixieland files at various tempos, all the way up totempo of 500, on the Audiophile, and they play OK for us (of course at that tempo, they are musically "cartoon-ish"). It would be helpful if you could send us a song ( support@pgmusic.com) that hangs, since you mention that it occurse with many tempo changes, pushes etc. I realize that means you'd need to save the song a lot... so that it saves before it hangs. It is likely something to do with something specific about adding a push or a tempo change at a high tempo.

Hi Peter, I will send you those files where I experienced all the crashes. However, this morning when I did some more work on them, the _DIXTEDY RealStyle seems to have stabilised on my system and I was able to do everything I tried to do before BUT without the crashes. In fact, I could not make it crash at all. Today I was able to do two things very effectively and ended up with delightful approaches to creating Dixieland that were not possible before 2012. 1. For a fast Dixieland style that does not sound quite so 'cartoon-ish', I used the Gypsy Jazz Fast Rhythm w/Drums, killed off one of the guitars and added the _DIXTEDY piano. Previously, I was not able to do that without it constantly crashing but today it was a breeze. 2. Additionally, for a fast Dixieland style, using the _DIXTEDY RealStyle rhythm section and with a midi clarinet solo playing around the melody and the midi trombone from DixieDukes playing fills in Strings, I was able to create a very reasonable sounding contrapuntal Dixieland front line. Although I used to do that with all midi styles, it has only been made possible with RealTracks with 2012. Excellent! Now all I need for further improvement is a clarinet and trombone in RealStyles that do the same thing but I have not tried the background soloists yet and maybe they do.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
