If I'm understanding this correctly, perhaps you could post in the Wishlist to have a more informative error message when this combination is tried?

At the risk of garnering criticism, ASIO4ALL works ubiquitously and not in RealBand. Rather than plead for sympathy I think a better marketing and sales approach would be to make it work. I am in the midst of wasting time right now looking for a solution that doesn't need to exist. Sharing MIDI and audio driver space is not what I consider being an unreasonable demand. It is better accomplished in BiaB, how this is impossible in RB is puzzling.

UPDATE: I was wrong, it's confusing in BiaB too.

I'm not sure excatly what problem you're experiencing (and I haven't used RealBand....). However, I just solved my problems with ASIO4ALLV2's interaction with BIAB.

Check my post (it's the 3rd one down) on the page here .

I hope this helps.

I've been having all kinds of problems that appear to be tied to my crappy onboard internal sound card and my pro external sound card.

Someone mentioned Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth above in the older part of the threads and I found a ton of good stuff from a Google search on disabling this:

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...&as_rights=

Newbert and FranksRiffs this could possibly be a lead in your situations. Looks like ASIO4All has issues between itself and Microsoft too.

I have problems when I play music from web sites and try to run my pro card. There's a conflict between the two cards since the web wants to open the crap card. I'm trying some of the tips I found in the Google search tonight so I'm thinking if I can kill the crap card once and for all, I'll be golden.

I use and have used probably a half dozen other DAWs and ASIO4All works near flawlessly with all of them.

I am in "practical use" Hell right now. It seems everything I want to do I can't.

RealBand: I want to create my own performance tracks with my guitar. I am struggling to accomplish what is dazzlingly simple in almost any other DAW - record my guitar along with a track as I monitor it with Guitar Rig effects in real time.

Is this just beyond the scope of RealBand?

Where do you insert the VST effect on my guitar track?

Where do you record arm the track?

Where is the real time monitor select?

Why does RB drop my M-Audio Fast Track driver and complain about Mac format and sample rate support?

Why does RealBand hate ASIO4all?

Honestly,I'm really burning some serious time trying to do the simplest things.

So the fix for me on the audio side in Win 7/8 was to go into the Playback Devices (right click on speaker in the tray) on my computer and "Disable" the integrated sound card stuff and make sure only to leave the external card turned on.

An additional option is to uncheck "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" & "give exclusive mode applications priority" in the Advanced tab. I did this to try and stop the web browsers from taking control of sound from any DAW app I have running. This had mixed results. I think the permanent solution for me here is to close browsers when running DAW and vice-versa.

I'll be checking MIDI next to see if that works any better with the integrated card disabled.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
