Hi
I'm still DLing the darned thing BUT reading through the DL Tutorial it shows 'master_realtracks_installer.exe'as being there to automatically set up the tracks -
QUOTE - You can install all the RealTracks easily by running the file called 'master_realtracks_installer.exe'. This will install all of the RealTracks/RealDrums files in your download folder.
Its NOT there in the list of BIAB2013 files that I am currently downloading. Does that come after?
cheers

Ditto on the installer. It's not on my download page.

Also the files are acting screwy on install. I doubleclick the exe, the "loading" circle starts, then stops and goes back to a normal cursor. Anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes later, the install starts.

Anyone having similiar problems?

master_realtracks_installer not on my download list either!

Actually - even though I'm halfway through downloading, I think I'll stop. There seem to be so many problems with missing files and things that don't work, I'd much prefer to download it later.

Will my download list be updated to include the missing files, or is that fixed at the point of purchase?

How long can I download for anyway?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I suspect that the "master_realtracks_installer" is what comes on the USB hard drive. For the download, just run the downloaded file and install each group of RealTracks separately.

Digihouse, if you go to your download page, it will tell you how long the links are good for. Personally, I would go ahead and download the files and install them, because in a few days, they will put out a patch file that fixes the problems that have been reported. Generally the problems are with the large files (RealTracks/RealDrums) themselves, but with the little text files that describe them or point to them in some way. That way, the fix file won't generally be a huge download, but a much smaller file that expects that you have already installed the previous downloads.

If you are concerned about it, and you have sufficient disk space, remember that you can make a backup copy of your previous BIAB version before installing 2013 by copying it to a new folder, and then all you have to do is create a shortcut to the old BBW.EXE file.

The very large files, like >900mb or so, yes, there is a wait state here as well, not so long if the install files are residing on an internal hard drive, but I have noticed that when using a USB external drive, there is a long wait before things start to run onscreen.

Defragging you harddrive doesn't hurt either. Defraggler is a good and fast defragmentation utility.

I sometimes find that large EXE's take awhile to load, also, because my anti-virus software scans it before running it. Especially if you just connected to an external USB drive that the anti-virus hasn't scanned yet.

As this "installer" isnt on the Download version, am I OK to install the "BIAB/Realband 2013" to play with and not screw anything up.
AND - the Real Drums, Real Tracks blocks as they become available off the download?
I guess they will float off the folder I have them in (on my desktop)and end up in the c\bb (my 2008.5 folder?
Please confirm
Thanks
Ian

Yes. Good idea to run the bb/realtracks installer first, then run each of the realtracks installers in turn. I find that helps to keep track of what you've installed and have yet to install.

It took me hours upon hours to install the RealTracks one at a time, when it only should have taken about 30 mins with the installer.

Especially when the setups for the RealTracks weren't working properly. It seems like maybe they "jumped the gun" and released before they were ready. Not including the installer was inexcusable.

At least the upgrade is FINALLY over! Whew!

It is never wise to wait, historically, there will be Updates and then more Updates, so what are you waiting for?

As I understand it, the automated installer may be included with the hard drive purchase, but the e-delivery version comes just like it always has, in files separated as several downloads. That is likely due to bandwidth considerations, but it is also a feature IMO as sometimes a downloaded file gets corrupted and by having them divided up you won't have to repeat one huge sized download, just the file that may have gotten corrupted.

Hi,

The "Master RealTracks Installer" is the file that can be used to auto-install downloaded RealTracks files and check for corrupt files in your download folder. We typically add this file to the downloads for UltraPlus and EverythingPAK, since there are so many files in a complete download, and those products are available as download-only purchases.

We'll add a master installer for the 2013 download pages soon, and we'll send an email notification to customers who have already purchased it.

Note that you only need to download those RealTracks files that you don't have. I.E. if you are upgrading from 2012 that would be RealTracks Sets 155 and higher. Not sure if that is part of the confusion, however I can see how it could be, and we'll clarify this in the ordering system. To find out what RealTracks Sets you have, you can check the RealTracks Picker and order by set number.

Hello, I'm thinking of upgrading my old 2009 version to 2013 (everything pack). Can you assure me that it will include a master realtracks installer on the hard drive? I suffer from RSI and the thought of installing 187 realtracks individually one by one is horrific.

Thanks very much,

Mel

There is an installer on the supplied external drive. The installer gives you the choice of where all the RealTracks will go.

If for some reason this isn't what you need, it is easy enough to copy all the RealTracks with a few wildcards.

I believe you will only get the individual installers when you purchase an update on DVD. Since you are getting the 2013 EverythingPAK, assuming you want to install to your local hard drive, the installer actually just does a "copy" of all the files from the USB drive to your hard drive. So yes, it is a one step process. You could even do it manually, if you wanted to; however, the installer also installs the necessary fonts, the DX effects, etc.

So once you tell it to install, go get a cup of coffee and read the newspaper while it's doing it's thing.

Thanks very much Matt, John, I've just finished installing the first 39 realtracks on my old version of biab and each one was an .exe which had to be run and the license agreed to each time etc. There's a bbrb2009everythingpak.exe but this doesn't run all the realtracks .exe's. That's how it seems to be with the 2009 version. Each one has to be uncompressed into its wma files individually...

So just to make absolutely sure here in case I've misunderstood, I'll be getting the USB harddrive version of biab 2013 and would be installing onto my pc... it would not only copy the files over to my harddrive, but also uncompress them into wma's *if* they were 187 .exe's....? Does that make sense?

with the 2009 version of biab I had to not only copy the files but also run each realtrack pack.

Thanks again for your help, very much appreciated,

I had forgotten that the 2009 version RTs were all WAV files. There is a button to clean that up in the RealTracks so that you are only left with the WMA's. BIAB no longer converts the WMAs to WAV to make the RealTrack, which is one of the ways generation of RT's is speeded up.

The 2009 version is wma files - only the audiophile version uses full wavs, I think....

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
