HELP!
I'm new at the whole digital recording thing, and even newer with BIAB and Realband. I created a tune on BIAB and opened it in Realband where I have recorded a lead vocal track. Unfortunately, when I view the vocal track in Track view and listen to it in playback, I see and hear that the vocal track is two bars later than where I sung it during recording. Also, it is a whole step flat from where I sang it.
I am usingthe Line 6 UX2 as my Interface with the Vintage Vocals setting. (I have tried other settings on the UX2 as well. Same result). Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Not sure what caused it but cutting and pasting should take care of your two measure difference.

On the vocal being a half step flat: I'm thinking that the key got changed on your backing tracks, somewhere in the process.

Check to see if the interface you are recording thru is set at a different sample rate that the tracks in Biab.

For instance, BiaB may be set at 16 bit 44,100 sample rate. while the interface for Rb is 16 bit 48,000

Thanks,
I just checked. The key of the song remained constant. Any other thoughts?

Just noticed another odd thing about the vocal track; not only is it late by about 2 beats, and about one whole step flat, it's plays back as though it was recorded at a slower speed! The longer you listen to the vocal track, the later it gets relative to all the other instruments!
What on earth is going on????

Not that it will correct your issues r.anthony, but something you might check as I see no mention of it in your post; I've run into a similiar sync issue on my system under two different senarios:

1. if I am running MME drivers versus ASIO, MME drivers have much higher latency and seem to cause all kinds of issues on my system

2. even when running ASIO drivers, if I start and stop a song with an audio track while listening to it, it gets out of sync. If I rewind to the beginning of the song and let it play straight through...no problems

Just a thought......

Mountainside; try Track - Consolidate audio region and highlite all the tracks from beginning to end.
Then try it.

r.anthony -

What version of Realband, and do you have latest update for that version?

Thanks Rharv...I'll give it a try. Do you highlite just the audio tracks or all tracks..audio, midi, RT's in the song? What exactly does consolidate do?

During editing (audio) RB either
a. moves chunks of audio around
b. adds, edits or deletes a section of audio.

So that 'undo' works, RB has markers everywhere a 'chunk' is used, and keeps anything you tossed in a 'temp audio' area incase you undo back and need it.

So the track ends up as a linear bunch of 'chunks' or silence. Each of thee has a marker.
If you hover over the track number you can see how many 'Events' are on an audio track. If it's more than 1 you have chunks of audio.
Consolidate command makes everything on the track one continuous chunk (if you highlite whole track and use consolidate command)
It may help. It was something quick to try that I could think of.

Thanks Mountainside,
I'm happy, and a bit embarrased to say that I had my Realband Drivers set to MME. Don't know if it defaulted that way or not. I changed them to ASIO and it corrected the pitch and slowness of playback problems.
Thanks to all for your kind and thoughtful responses.

Rharv,
Thanks. I appreciate your assistance. It turned out to be a Drivers issue. I believe my system defaulted to MME. Changed it to ASIO and all is good.
Thanks again.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
