Hi,
We have a question about what type of audio interface people use to record audio with RealBand. In particular:
1. Do you have an audio interface with multiple inputs? 2. If so, do you use multiple inputs when recording, or do you typically only record one at a time?

Hi Andrew
I currently use a Line6 USB UX-1 which has 1 Mic and 1 Instrument input on the front and 2 Line inputs on the back. I have so far used only one input at a time as I also have trouble walking and chewing gum.

I use delta 1010lt.
Record 1 at a time sometimes, but record 6-8 just as often. Depends on what I'm recording. I have two different systems, each with one of these cards. I've been known to combine/sync them both in one machine when more than 8 audio ins are desired.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I am currently using a Presonus Audiobox USB, which has 2 inputs. In order to take the place of a multi-input hardware daw I have used in the studio for years and move to computer-based tracking, I do have plans in the future to go to an 8 or 16 input setup.
Thanks for asking.

I use a MOTU 828MK3 Hybrid. I use the line outputs from a Motif Rack, a Roland Fantom rack and a Yamaha DX7II to the line inputs of the MK3. I run midi in and outs from the MK3 to a MOTU Midi Express XT. I run a Shure SM58 into the mic input of the MK3 and connect all of it via firewire to my computer.

Interface: Focusrite Saffire 6 2in 4out.
I use the 2in as left and right so I can record in stereo.
I use one pair of outs for monitoring and the other pair to send output to the mixer where I can apply FX and record back to a new track.

I use an M-Audio keyboard controller that has a single audio input, so I only record one track at a time.

Hi Andrew,
I use a Lexicon Lambda (it was a deal I couldn't pass up). I record one track at a time in mono or stereo depending on what I need.

I use the M-Audio FastTrack Pro and record up to two audio channels (L and R) simultaneously, as well as using it for MIDI input also.

I am using a Lexicon Omega for simultaneous instrument line-in for electric guitar and Mic 1 for vocals. Capable of more inputs but that is all I need.

M-Audio Audiophile 192 - 4 in / 4 out analog PCI card. Actaully 1 sterio in (L/R), with a Sterio Line out and a Sterio Monitor out. Also Midi in/out
I use a Samll Berhinger Mixer at the front end of the card to send to the channel inputs.
the only complaint is the software supplied with the card "Delta Control Panel" just never seemed to be fully functional as claimed. But other than that the card has been great. However, the day will come to replace it with something a little more flexible.

M-Audio Firewire 410 (4 ins: 2 analog; 2- SPDIF's)
Mainly use the two analogs as a stereo pair (85%, or as one or two MONO's the other 15%) and very rarely as a "4 channel" device: analog pair plus the SPDIF (I'd use those SPDIFs more but have some non-SW related issues holding me back)

Presonus AudioBox USB for cost and stability. I wish now I'd gotten one with at least four inputs specifically so I could import some four-track tape recordings I have. As it is I only record myself singing or playing one instrument at a time in mono or stereo through the Presonus's two inputs.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
