If there was an option for Ma4 then the GNOME player would pop up as the default I think. I can still DL the MP4 and play them though in Linux. It's just a extra step.

Just tried it and it worked, a bit slow but it worked. The point being that this will be a great answer to tons of questions from people who are interested but not quite sure what BIAB will do.

Great marketing idea!

Congrats!

Works very well, but I think you should make it crystal clear the actual program generates songs a lot quicker than the web demo - may put people off.

Works well in my 32 bit XP IE8 machine.

Peter, this is a good idea. In your final form I would point out that this is just a fraction of what BiaB can do then point them to the YouTube videos. I’m sure you have already thought of this but just in case……..

Working well here, too: Win7/64, Firefox Nightly 22.0a1. Peter, I created a 16-bar song that generated a two-bar ending, using the last chord of the song (first beat of Bar 16). Is that the default? If so, you might want to mention it somewhere, along with a few other things such as time signature -- I assume for now they're all going to be 4/4?

Oooh, I just tried the song with the style _JAZFRED.STY, changing the ending chords slightly so that Bar 16 was still the "end" but with a different chord, and a resolving chord in Bar 17... and it finished it off with the chord in Bar 17. Sweet! But now the Download button doesn't work. (It did for the first one.)

I wish the Tab key advanced to the next cell after entering a chord.

Another thing: In the first song I used _DREAMYP.STY, and I swear it sounded as if the count-in was continuing during the song. Did the metronome accidentally get turned on, or something, or am I just hearing things?

Best,
Tom Smith

Works perfectly in Ubuntu 10.04 with Firefox 19.0

Also works perfectly with Puppy 5.4 Live CD with Sea Monkey 2.18.1
as well as Mint 13 Xfce using Firefox 12 even on this old Pentium 4
machine with 512 Ram.

I like it.

On the other hand, it does not work in either Chrome or Safari on an iPad Mini w/iOS 6.1.2. Neither of those browsers has Flash. Or, rather, those allow me to input a song, but the player won't play and the downloader won't download.

Great idea for people coming to BiaB for the first time.

Hey Tom, yes, it won't work on iPhone and iPad yet. The original post said it would, but was corrected after I reported the Flash problem.

Cute, it does an ending. After Tom posted, I tried a song with 10 bars and 2 choruses. Then in bar 11, another chord. This played the two choruses and did a 2-bar ending on the final chord from measure 11.

Nice.

I did find I was tripping over the entry of a sharp, using 3 instead of # because I've learned to do that in BIAB. Of course, new users wouldn't know that. However, it would make things a lot easier for an iOS user.

ps Running under Firefox, Windows 7 64-bit.

Indeed, Matt -- I missed the correction until after my original post. My bad.

I also noticed that ^ and the rest/shot hold don't seem to work. Slashed basses, e.g. D/B, do work. Or at least it takes 'em.

Works fine in my Win XP.

Tried my XT317 Android 2.3.7 Android phone: "Flash 9 required" message.
Using "download" button do not work, too (not sure why).
Any fix to the flash issue?

Yes, to be clear, it is designed to work for Windows and Mac (desktop OS), not the mobile OS (iOS, Android). We will try to make it work for mobile too in the future.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
