Hello all,

I am using PT to record through a virtual piano program (Pianoteq) with the Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. When I look at the output driver box, the Scarlett driver is not there so I could only hear through PC speakers rather than monitors that are hooked to the audio interface. How do I get the recorded data to play through the studio monitors? Thanks DP

Try changing the Driver from MME to ASIO (or the reverse).
Some drivers only come in ASIO, some don't.

Hi,

The problem is that I do not see the audio interface driver in the out driver box at all. Using the Pianoteq software I can play and record but not in PT. DP

That's what I'm saying; try switching from MME to ASIO and different drivers may become available in that output box.

In Options-Prefrences-Audio Tab

In the top middle of the screen you should find Driver Type, it's likely set to MME, change to ASIO and see if the device shows up in the list.

Hello,

I tried that but the output driver does not show Scarlett or ASIO4ALL drvier. However I was able to hear through the monitors by checking the monitor output on the device manager tab. The problem is that I hear the piano from the PC sound card rather than from the Pianoteq program as I am trying to play/record with the sounds from Pianoteq. DP

That sounds like a MIDI routing issue.

How do you have the Pianoteq loaded in PT?
On a separate track and port, or as the default MIDI synth?

Hi

I am trying to find a way for PowerTrack to recognize PT but unable to do so. I think once the output driver has Scarlett then problem will be solved. DP

Yes, but I think you may need to look at the MIDI driver for that Track. Not the audio driver.
If you are hearing the system sound piano on that track, then PianoTeq is not properly getting the MIDI data and generating the sound to the Audio Driver, instead the MIDI data seems to be going to the basic system synth and then out.

Your explanation seems to say MIDI is going to the basic synth and then out the audio output, instead of going to the PianoTeq synth and then out. Different problem than initially described.

Again, how are you implementing the PianoTeq synth?

Hello,

I finally get it to work. The problem is that PowerTrack does not recognize the Pianoteq as plug in for 64 bit version. That is why I was unable to load the piano as VSTi. Once I load the 32 bit version of the PianoTeq, then I see the plug in as well as the driver appearing on my Midi output. It is too bad that Power Track is unable to accomodate the 64 plug in. DP

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
