Hi guys

It has been a few years since I used the program due to illness but I thought I might like to try it again, only this time on a Mac.

Yes I know I'm on the wrong site but it's just a basic question.

I have put this question on the Mac forum but it is'nt very busy there.

I can get the Pro Pak as an upgrade and I was wondering if this was enough to catch up with all the improvements there have been since I last used it.

Thanks

Alan

Hey, Amigo. You've really been missed 'round these parts, padna. Maybe you ran oot of fuel for your planes. Something snatched up Russ about that same time.

Guess what? Nokie Edwards of The Ventures fame, wants one of my original BIAB guitar tunes for a forthcoming album to be released in November. I sent 34 originals to him on Friday. Unfortunately, he's in Alaska until August 27th. Darn!

If you haven't upgraded recently, version 2013 for PC is simply awesome. I especially like the improved Soloist feature.

Not acquainted with the Mac version but I'm sure you'll love it.

Anyway, welcome back. I hope that you are fully recovered and we can collaborate again very soon.

Alan, I wish our mutual friends here could hear the fabulous guitar work that you did for me on Hank Williams' "I Could Never Be Ashamed Of You" but, as a cover, I don't think it qualifies here. If I understand correctly, my Motagator site pays all fees and royalties so I'm going now to move it to the top of my playlist. It's presently the last song.

I simply love the pseudo pedal steel sound that you got out of your Strat.

Thanks so very much.

Oops, Motagator is upgrading today! (Beautiful Paul!) so I'll move it ASAP. You can't hear it at the moment anyway.

Don I am humbled that you still remember that piece and that you hold it in such high esteem.

It was a pleasure to do it for you,and if I am honest I listened to it myself just a couple of weeks ago,It brought back memories of my time here on the forum and all the special friends I made.

Thank you

Alan

Alan, this is a cross post only because I don't know how to re direct you to a post topic I started a few days ago re: Nokie Edwards of The Ventures.

Here he is pickin' on Buddy Holly:

http://youtu.be/PHg5qijLFK8

Nokie is now in his late 70s and has had recent health issues.

Our friendship dates back to the early 70s in Seattle when I first got out of the Army. Probably 1970-71.

I know that you like Britain's Shadows, well The Ventures give cause to believe the Parallel Universe Theory, they sound so much alike.

Hi Keith

Thank you for your kind words.

I will never completely recover from my illness,it is being managed
at the moment and I cope with it,nothing else I can do,but I will not
give in to it.

Hope you are keeping well.

Yo Alan,

Good to hear from you.

Here's something you might think about:

Band in a Box for Windows runs just fine on Macs running Windows Emulator software.

Matter of fact, Peter Gannon has told us on this forum that he *develops* Band in a Box for Windows on a Mac Lapbook, running one of the Windows Emulators, Bootcamp or Parallels, I forget which one, but you could easily find out via PGMusic Support.

You already have the Windows version of BB, right?

And - The Windows Version of BB has more features available than the Mac version.

Do it this way and there is not new learning curve, everything will be where it "used to be" and all...

Hello Mac

So nice to hear from you as well my friend,it's been a long time I hope you are well.

I unfortunately do not have the PC program anymore,it was on a computer that the hdd corrupted and
during a house move I can't find the disc.

I was aware that i could run windows on my Mac,but I thought the Mac version would be more stable.

My copy of Win7 is still on my PC which I don't use anymore,I don't know if I could run it on my Mac as it is already registered to the PC.

I will have to make some enquiries.

Thanks

Already done that Mac and as it is so long ago they pointed me to the
Updates.

I have been in touch with support and had a very nice chat with them,I have decided I will
go with the Mac version as I have Logic Pro X as my DAW,and probably the BIAB MegaPak.

Thanks

Alan

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
