>>> The build 379 worked, but is there a way to keep the mixer in that full chord screen mode. i.e. a floating/size adjustable mixer? Man that would make it the optimum gigging machine/screen!
Yes, the old mixer is available (Ctrl-Shift-M or menu-Windows-Mixer).
It can make a nice companion to the new mixer, some sample uses would be:
- since the old mixer adjusts one param at a time (without changging tabs), and can be set to any size, you can set it to very wide, and to volume tab. Then if you want fine control over volumes, with a real wide volume slider, Ctrl-Shift-M to open and close the old mixer. Or just leave it open, small and somewhere innocuous on the screen.
- If in full screen mode, or if you have a dual monitor setup, the old mixer can help out without having to show the full GUI.
That is it man! Thanks Peter I have only what I want and need on the screen while playing and nothing else. What an unexpected surprise, hadn't even gotten into the new RT's and styles and I am about to wet ma pants!
PS: To Mac, I like the mixer because for some odd reason sometimes a certain track comes on a little strong, mostly the drummer doing pop beats. This way I just ease my hand on the mouse and quite him/her down a bit. FWIW that has never worked with any real drummers I have played with in the past.
If you have the program on the external hard drive how do you safely install the patch? ( I only use the pg external as a backup drive and use another external as my main biab drive)
When you run the patches from PG Music, the EXE file will ask you the location of your main /BB folder and your /BB/RealTracks and RealDrums folders. If you have the PG Music drive and the copy on another external drive each connected, they will have different drive letters and you can run the patch twice. Even if you run a patch a second time on the same files (like the RealTracks in the same location on yet another drive, for example) running the patch twice does no harm.
In my opinion, it is safe to patch the PG Music drive. Whenever PG Music updates the program, it creates a backup of the BBW.EXE file so you have the ability to revert, if you want to. In twenty years, though, I have not had to do that.
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors
I only run BiaB from the USB hard drive and always install the Patches to it. Never a problem. If there is some day, it's PG's responsibility to fix it.
BTW, one of my long time pet peeves is the folder path questions in the BiaB prompts.
Ignore what is says logically and just replace "C" with whatever your USB drive letter is. In my case it's "K."

BB always places the previous version in storage so that we have the option to Revert to the previously installed one in case something is horribly wrong with either a New Version or Update install. That said, in all these years I've never had to use it.

With each New Release Installer, I've only had to reset that once, the first time.
After that, the Installers and the Updaters always open with those path settings remaining as I entered them. Your setup doesn't do that?
After installing the 379 update, I got a "trial expired" message for the Coyote DXi, prompting me to enter a serial number. I do have a purchased version but I thought that it was also provided as part of the last two update packages. In any event, the message went away after a reboot and everything seems to be functioning normally.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
