"From" is one of the most common things I use. If I make a change, I just need to hear that part of the song, not the whole thing from the beginning. "From" should be in the Transport area but I don't see it.
Is there a way to add our own buttons?
Also, the online Help has not been updated. It still shows the old interface.
"From" should be in the Transport area but I don't see it.
Possibly you have resized the window, maybe to have something else onscreen alongside it?
"Play from Bar ..." is on the Transport Bar, but disappears with others as you reduce the width of the window and thereby the space available for the Transports.
The buttons that get dropped during a resize don't disappear sequentially from the reducing-side as you would expect however ... "Conductor Window" goes first, then "Record Audio" next as the transport bar shortens, then last the "Play from Bar" button.
I'm sure this has been done in order to preserve the *basic* transport buttons, though like you I miss "Play from" being there more often than I had expected even though I often double-click anyway ...
So if you did reduce your window, resize it again in increments and Play From will pop back - it is the last to disappear so is the first to return, and you will still have a reduced window just not by as much as without it.

When you resize the Transport Bar and the "Conductors Window", "Record Audio" and "Play from Bar" buttons disappear as mentioned above, the first two appear as dropdown options when you click the "More" arrows at the end of the Transport Bar but the "Play from Bar" button does not, making it unavailable in a resized window. This would have solved FirstBassman's issue, and is worth addressing.
I haven't resized anything, but there's no sign of the PLAY FROM button on my screen. I can live without it, now that I know I can right-click on the bar and select the chorus there as well.
You don't see the same screen as Jazzmandan posted? You should see (on the transport bar) Play, Generate and Play, Loop, and then Play From. It's the fourth button from the left.
What is interesting, however, is that if you reduce the size of the screen and it does disappear, that particular button doesn't show up when you click on the >> icon to see the additional buttons available.

Just performed an experiment here, Control-Panel --> Display, at my normal setting of 1024X768, I have no "From" button displayed, either upfront or under the Arrow.
Adjusting the Displa to 1280X768 I have the From button displayed just like in the screenshot above.
Problem with that is, using that kind of Global System setting here makea everything else, all other programs and the Desktop, too darn tiny to use effectively with these old eyes.
But at the larger settings, the darn Buttons should not disappear from the Arrow selectors!
A lot of buttons seem to be missing from the new GUI when using a non standard resolution.
I use 1280x960 with a display magnification of custom 139% on windows 7.
On the three main toolbars I feel that if a button such as .Wav or above mentioned one can't be displayed there because of resolution, then it should appear in the dropdown arrows at right side of toolbars.
That .Wav doesn't though to be fair it can be accessed from menu's.
Probably other buttons missing as well, haven't had time to check them out.
To others, this has nothing to do with changing resolution settings. I don't mess with resolution settings for every application I use. If there is not enough screen real estate, then the command should be available via a chevron pull-down list. As Peter just admitted.
Interesting that in less than one hour of use I discovered already two bugs in 2014. As I always say ...I should be in the Beta test group.
HI for what its worth from someone with not 100% eyesight - I use 1024 res as I can focus on that and its nice and clear. Running up to 1280 res changes the screen so the "from" pops in BUT the screen is not clear enough to use close to. I could live with the slightly different shape of the GUI - after all I've got used to the new one quite quickly - but not with poor screen quality. So its back to 1024 for me until the patch comes along. cheers ian

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
