hi, I am working on this song. One chord isn't working for me. But it isn't like I am strumming the guitar and I can easily look for the chords by switching them to see which one goes well. So I was wondering if there is a chord box that shows my chords that I can have on my screen two or something when I am creating my song? That way I can click on a few to hear which one it is. Also to apply the strum that I am concentrating on to get the chord right with. I will go look around for this tool. But I am not so sure you have it. It would be nice. Otherwise I will have to listen to the song closely to find the chord I need. It will be a lot of trial and error.

Try going into Chord Builder. That will show all chords by name and by manipulating the choices you can hear each one.
I had similar problem to you recently and used chord builder to work it out - turned out to be B5b.
There is a recent post, started by me, when I got stuck using it. Scroll down a few days and you should see it.

hry Six, yes I have went to chord builder but it just gives me one bass note. Too bad they didn't have a box we can try the different chords with the instrument we are focusing on. I am just working on this rhythm guitar real track. I guess I will just have to listen to it a lot and put in one of these chords that are already in my progression to see which one is best. I will try and find your other posting thanks

Hi SR,

If you go to Chord Builder: select the root of the chord you want (#1) - e.g if it's some kind of F# chord, click on F#; in the region I've labelled #2, you'll find the most common chords - e.g. it it's Fm7, click on the m7; if the chord isn't there, click on #3 and a truckload of different types of chord will appear and you can select from the list.

Under Click on "Help | Index" and then type in chord builder. This will take you to the help topic on this feature. It offers some more information.

Alternatively, if you click on the "Help" button within Chord Builder, it will take you the above topic on how to use it.

Hope this helps,
Noel

I'm branching out into different music genres and starting to use more advance chords other the maj, 7th, minor, etc. There are many tools on the WEB that are helpful to try different chords in addition to the Chord Finder in BiaB, for example http://www.sengpielaudio.com/ChordNameFinder.htm.

I personally use an iPad app called ChordLab. It's $5.99 and well worth it. It works by inputting 3 to 4 individual notes then it will tell you the chord name. (would you recognize a G#9sus4?) You can also enter a Chord name and it will give you the notes either on a Piano Keyboard or Guitar.

Hope this is helpful.

Maybe this list of chords recognised by Band-in-a-Box will help:

http://www.pgmusic.com/tutorial_chordlist.htm

I think some might have been added for later versions since this list but I could not find the list. Perhaps there is a new list in one of the tutorials. Anybody know if this is the case?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
