Okay, before I get into my question, next year is gonna suck (maybe) cuz Windows isn't going to support WIN XP anymore. But I'm still going to buy some 3 GB RAM (how can you beat $30 for 3GB?) and also buy the BIAB 2014 "ULTRAPAK"!!! But let me say, I'm feeling pretty good (and not because of the alcohol either!) as I played my first busking gig EVER in Santa Monica a couple days ago (and will do 3rd St. tomorrow, hopefully). Yes, the experience scared the [*****] outta me cuz I've never played ALONE (bands, karaoke, yes, but NO, not really ALONE!! That is, just playing back BIAB and instrumental/karaoke tracks burned to CD with just me singing and playing guitar to them). But it worked!! So my question (finally) is this. As I ONLY "write" a song by doing the "UNFOLD (durations to 1 BIG chorus)" and then "EXPAND (durations of chords by 2)" I'm wondering how I can change s different bass style form the VERSE and the CHORUS. I want to BIAB this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A3Rk0KO734So far, I've always done the same bass pattern throughout a song which has worked great for what I've done. But here, obviously, the bass pattern is different during the verse than the chorus. I know "you" get this. But, say the bass is one way from bars 1-8 (the CHORUS) then changes during the VERSE from bars 9-24 (or whatever) then back to the CHORUS bass pattern. Er, how do I do this? I'm just saying that a steady, bass pattern has worked well for my songs but now I want to do a song with TWO different bass patterns in a song. Sorry, but I don't have the patience to research for the answer. Hey, so that's why I'm here. cheers! P.S. Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE BIAB? If not, I really do!! If I can't find a karaoke/instrumental track of ANY song I want to do I can program my own using BIAB. How great is that?

Do you use part markers in your songs?
A lot of BIAB styles use a variation according to part markers, i.e., A part markers = simpler pattern, B part markers = busier patterns.
So you could use A part markers for the verses and B part markers (or even C, D, etc. if they are already included in the particular style being used) for the chorus.

This morning I thought to myself, "Now, why did I post this?" because it dawned on me that (I'm pretty sure, will try it later) that I can change bass patterns by using the "Soloist" (or another of the various instrument options available) and the F5 key, thus changing the bass where I want it changed. But then I read your reply. Yes, I use the "part markers". But I had to look up what they were in the BIAB manual. Didn't even know that is what they were called. However, I use them mostly for drum fills to let me know when vocals are to begin, for a chorus (as I know it changes things a bit from the verse), and/or when a song is ending. I need the drum fills not only for variety but also to let me know something is changing in the song because it's not easy to know that playing a song back which was burned to a CD and nothing is visible. But I lucked out. For the heck of it I RIGHT-CLICKED on a part marker and up popped some options WHICH I NEVER SAW BEFORE! Cool!! I'll experiment with them later. Thanks for your post!! cheers

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
