With every Karaoke player where you play Mp3+G's they are fine when you play them but if you want to back it up some real quick the graphics get scrambled up. When learning a song and you are having some trouble maybe learning the bridge or something you want to back it up. But you can't as I said the graphics get all messed up.

But when I back up the imported mp3 from a karaoke folder the graphics work fine when you back up the song in any place. The words are all there working fine. I don't know why RealBand can do this and no other player I have found that plays my Mp3+g's do. I will be rehearsing some tracks within RealBand from now on.

If anyone knows how RealBand does this and why other players can't deal with the graphics from an Mp3+g as well please let me know. Maybe PG Music should put out a karaoke mp3+g player and use whatever code for that if possible. Put a recorder on it or something. Just take RealBand and take it down to a few features for a karaoke player. It might sell

I think RB uses the text lined up with MIDI approach, whereas the others use actual graphics. So RB is generating the text in time while the others are reading images in line.

Just a hunch, but RB's ability to edit lyrics in notation leads me to believe they handle it a little differently. I don't think most Karaoke players concern themselves with a MIDI clock. Could be wrong ..

Rharv tells it like it is.

RealBand uses a lot of MIDI-based timing commands "under the hood" in order to lay everything, whether Audio, MIDI, or even those Lyrics, along the timeline. So everything is always "right where it is supposed to be" rather than working like a lot of the karaoke players, which assume that if everything starts from the beginning at the same time that it all will remain in sync. Those "players" were not designed for bopping around along the timeline, they are simple and are designed for the average Karaoke use, which would be to start a song and sing it right thru in a Karaoke situation.

There is no MIDI clock nor SMPTE time code going on in the average "player".

Seems you guys know something about this. Once I found an article about how karaoke graphics mess up if you reverse it some. I was trying to Google something about this to find that article but so far nothing.

Maybe PG Music can dismantle RealBand some. Take it down to a Karaoke Player to sell separately. I would like to use that instead of VLC Media player as I use now. Because as I was saying I do like to reverse a track when I am just learning the song. I am not hitting the notes on the bridge and I want to sing it a few times. But now it just doesn't work. But in RealBand it stays right in line. I will be opening RealBand for this reason alone when I am having trouble with a song. I might have to formally suggest to PG Music to put out this Karaoke player that would keep this technology in place. I am sure it would be popular

Sly, it reads like you may have found a market for a feature in RealBand that others have not considered. Why not post your suggestion in the RealBand wishlist?

Sly you are on to something here. One idea i had was to use Powertracks for this since it is very inexpensive. $49 for the basic program. PT is the same as RB without all the BiaB engine generation stuff. Very cool program to have. I know Silvertones runs it side by side with RB for live shows so he can cue up a request song without messing up his set list. SO they do not even have to strip down RB, they could start with PT, and build a straight Kar machine from that.

Here are some optional players i have looked at before http://www.top5freeware.com/free-karaoke-software-for-windows

Also go to a site called karaoke version, there are some great files here. I sometimes download them and add them to an existing midi with lyrics by matching the tempos, and make my own real nice files. http://www.karaoke-version.com/

Good idea on the .kar player from PG.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
