Does anyone on this forum still sync PowerTracks to tape. I can never seem to get tape, midi, and digital audio to sync. I can get midi and tape to sync or midi and digital audio to sync or any two to sync perfectly. But all three seems to be out of reach. I have figured out two workarounds that are a little more time consuming but why, why, why cant all three run in sync. I would like to hear from some of you that actually sync to tape and do it regularly. Its not a sync box problem or anything like that. and not a problem understanding the basics of tape sync. I ve been using the same sync box and proceedur for almost twenty years. I just cant seem to get all three to sync up perfectly.

Can you get digital audio and tape to sync?
Midi is the easy one. If audio is the issue, make sure you have the correct soundcard driver selected in PTW. Using soundmapper or such may give a problem...
I don't do it all the time, but have done it in the past..quite a while back. Haven't had any need for tape in a while.

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

*Trying to sync up with a software MIDI synth? --May not be possible. But PT/RB have settings for latency, buffer, etc. that might allow for such. Also, I'd say the ASIO drivers would be the better choice.

I can sync any two factors of the three, tape midi or digital audio. Once I set Power Tracks to midi sync, midi and digital audio on the computer are no longer in sync even though when not slaved to tape they are in sync.

I only use hardware for midi no vsti or dxi. Although my hardware is all at least ten years old it still sounds soo good to me. Until my ASR 10 dies its my main sound source.

Hardware is good for tape sync'ing. That alleviates at least the possibility of software goin' nuts.

I don't know of any sequencing software that can change the s[peed and pitch of Audio files on the fly to match a MIDI tempo, though.

Once Audio is recorded, the MIDI must be sync'd to the Audio, not vice verse.

If you change the BPM of the MIDI file to match the audio tracks, things will likely line up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
