Hello,

I discovered that that audio file for a chart I arranged (Elijah Rock) is massively messed up. There seems to be a chord progression from a completely other song going on simultaneously with my intended progression entered into the main chords window! What an ugly mess!

Trying to go to the style picker and pick a completely new song isn't helping. Is this file just corrupt somehow? I put so much work into finding hip chords for the progression I don't want to have to write them all down on a piece of paper and manually start it again!

Is there a way to completely "clear" or reset the audio accompaniment for a chord progression?

Try saveing the file with a new name. I suspect the problem is you have created a .wav file with the exact same name and this plays automatically by default. You can search for this and delete it or just rename the file.

Worth a try.

That worked! Thanks! I did a save-as on the BIAB file, then obliterated all other files related to the original filename. I specified the realtracks style I wanted and badda-bing- the track as I INTENDED it.

As jazzman said, an audio file with the same name plays automatically by default. You can turn that option off in prefs so you don't have to go thru the rename / delete steps. Might save a little time and frustration.

Yes, but it's good to understand what this is and why it works that way.

A question that comes up all the time on this forum is how to do an exact cover of a classic song because the standard Biab generated tracks either midi or RT's are generic. One way is to create a separate audio file of intros, certain song hooks, maybe an exact bass line or whatever and have it play along with the other tracks. You mute the Biab tracks you don't want for those bars (or whole song) that are playing from the audio file.

Therefore it was decided to have the audio file automatically play if that file is saved with the same file as the song itself. The user has the option to uncheck that.

A couple of years ago I did a Christmas song based on a Spyro Gyra version of it. I was able to import the original recording onto the audio track and then mute it in and out with Biab tracks and without much work at all it sounded really good but you could still tell where the transitions were. With a little more work with it in a full DAW like Real Band I could have easily made it close to perfect.

Easy way to get rid of unwanted Audio on the Audio track in BB is to go to the Audio menu, Edit, and select Kill Audio.

Or, using the BB2014 new GUI's mixer, expand the bottom by clicking on the Audio tab to see the Audio channel and hit Mute to make sure that it is indeed the Audio track playing concurrently. RightClick there to remove.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
