Hi I am new to this forum. I am running 2012.5 version of BIAB and RB. Recently I bought some vst's from a company called Waves - I did not read the fine print. The version I bought was for windows 7 or 8, while my machine was running Vista. All version of Waves VST's only support the big name DAW's like ProTools and Sonar.

RB kept saying these were not valid vst files, waves help desk said we don't support the host or your operating system.

So I upgraded to windows 8 - no problem with that so far, but RB still says these vst plugins are not valid files. I have several other 3rd party vst's and have had no issues
(wrt to other posting - they are all saved in Programs/(x86)/Steinberg/VST plugins folder)

Is anyone else using waves vst plugins? Had similar issues and solved them?

Thanks.

I've had some issues with VSTs in the past. I think if you are running 64 bit machine the VSTs have to be 32 bit I'm not sure this is the case with real Band, I was downloading VSTs for some Animation stuff like I clone5 pro. So the 32 bit thing may just be a Reallusion Issue. However, I'm having similar problems with the Studio 1 software in PreSonus AutoBox USB. The program does not want to activate any virtual plug-ins at all, even Real-Tracks from RealBand.

Both Band in a Box and Realband must use 32 bit VST.

Thanks for the info - I was not aware that RB was 32 bit only. It turns out that the Waves VST's are there in both 32 and 64 bit. So that should not be the issue.

My machine is not connected to the internet - so getting the software and software license transferred to my music computer turned out to be a complicated process with this vendor. I am now going back over that process and reinstalling the waves VST's to see if the issue is there.

I have an old LE version of Sonar that I will load and try next if reinstalling doesn't work.

Thanks again for the tips.

That COULD be an issue IF you are trying to use the 64 bit version in either BiaB or RealBand.

I just posted a selfie and all of the responses were get well soon!

While installing, did you make sure to include the 32 bit versions?

As Mario alluded to; if you installed (only) 64 bit originally, these may show up as available and not work.
You have to make sure you are pointing RB at the 32 bit version of the VST dll.

So I have gone through all the suggestions above - there are 32 bit versions of each file and they are installed in programs(x86)/Steinberg/VST plug ins.
I have confirmed that the license is there in the appropriate folder.

So I loaded up a version of Sonar LE (I only use RB as my DAW) and tried to open the plugins. The message I got was that Wave Shell-VST 9.2.dll was not a 32 bit version.

This is a bundle of 6 plug ins (all with 32 bit .dll files) - it comes with something called a wave shell - the wave shell application is the only one that does not appear to have a 32 bit version - there is no 32 bit folder and no win32 in the name.

I emailed waves asking about this and their only response was they don't support Sonar LE either.

I will see PG support has any ideas.

My next guess is that Waves, during the install, either 'acquires' the 32/64 bit data from the OS settings, or there is an option during the install process that defaults to making the shell install as 64 bit.

If it were me, I would attempt uninstalling the Waves plugins, rebooting the system (may be important) and then reinstall the plugins paying close attention to each and every option. There may be a 32 bit install option you missed previously, and could now could force.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
