Hello,

thanks to Band-in-a-box I improved my skills in playing my keyboard. Over the years with biab I arranged several hundreds of songs which I now would like to play on the keyboard.
I started up with a printed songbook because I need the notation in front of me.
But my Tyros keyboard has a big display. This could be a perfect alternative to the printed songbook. I can export my Biab-songs to midi and load into the display of the Tyros.
This is quite good - but te chords are missing! And I need these desperately.
There is an option to include the lyrics of the song in the exported midi file.
It would be the ultimate solution to export the chords in the Yamaha XF-format. This would even give the opportunity to control the Yamaha-styles within the Tyros. But that's not really necessary as I want to play with the left hand by myself.

But could you implement a solution to export the chords, so that they are arranged above the notation line? Similar to the lyrics display beneath the notation line?
This would be of so great value for me; and I'm sure, not only for me.
Thanks a lot.

Not a great solution but perhaps it will help you: try downloading the free notation program, MuseScore. It reads BIAB files directly, including chord symbols.

Hello Matt,

thank you for that hint. I tried it out - and: Yes, MuseScore imports the chords fine!
But - and that's a great but - this program is not able to import the lyrics as well.
So I have the choice:
Either to have the chords and load each song seperately into MuseScore and store it as midi file - and n o t having the lyrics.
Or having the lyrics and not the chords, but get all the midis with one click as batch process from within biab.

I have hundreds of songs! It would be easier to insert the chords with another program - like XGworks - than to insert the lyrics anew.

But thank you very much for your tip! I apreciate it. Thanks for all your support in the biab forum!

The before mentioned programm XGworks would also be a very time consuming solution. I would have to import each song separately, go to the exakt position of every single chord, store it and export it as a midi file.

So I hope that my wish to the additional chords in the Midi export function will find its solution in a new update for biab. I think it will be not a great thing to do for Peter.

One solution that I and many others have requested is for BIAB to export Music XML. We are much closer now, given that BIAB creates an XML file for the melody to export to Sinsy (the vocal synth service). Once the full file can be exported, any number of notation programs will be able to read it -all of it.

So, hang in there, and add your voice to the Wishlist for support of exporting to Music XML.

By the way, look up posts by DCuny (David Cuny of New York City) about Music XML here on the forum. He's doing some great work, and his posts have references to more info on Music XML if you're interested. Here's a good link I have: http://www.musicxml.com/

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
