I'm in Coal Creek Canyon, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Denver. Roughly 100 miles from you, if you're right in the Springs.

Had another OMG moment last Monday.

Played a Cinco de Mayo gig at a cowboy/biker bar in town (spurs and bandannas crowd). Maybe a dozen people (who books a band on a Monday afternoon?), sulking at the bar, drowning their sorrows. If you're sitting in a bar at 2 PM on a Monday afternoon, you've got some sorrows. grin

Went through 4 sets, playing our hearts out to deafening silence, with a few exceptions. (Think The Blues Brothers at Bob's Country Bunker) laugh One of those "OK, let's just get through this, get the money and run" gigs. We figured that we wouldn't be doing a return performance in this place. No way.

Way.

After we'd finished and are tearing down, people start coming up and telling us they loved the music, really enjoyed it, yadayada. Some woman books us for a private party in August. Manager says everybody loved it, they want to have us back as soon as possible - then he bought us a beer. We looked at each other and said - "OMG - do you believe this?"

I only hope that next time is on a Sunday, when the place is packed. It's tough playing for an oil painting. grin

My wife's band was playing a gig at an outdoor beer garden with a bar at one end. Not much response from those in attendance, who were mostly at the bar. Finally, the bartender came over and said, "We have a request from the bar."

Excited, my wife said, "What is it"?

Bartender said, "Can you turn it down? They can't hear the game".

We had a similar experience. We were playing at a Sheraton in Spartanburg, and the guy booked us on a night that the Gamecocks were playing. We're playing on the terrace to two people while the entire crowd is inside watching the game.

Can't compete with sports. grin

One night while playing in a duo in a small rural bar in Julian, Ca I kept hearing a harmonica playing during our songs. Apparently an aspiring harp player had decided to accompany us. However, he only had one harmonica which didn't seem to match the key of any of our songs. I finally resorted to announcing the key of our next song "for the harmonica player in the back".

Another time I was playing some jazz instrumental guitar (with BIAB backing tracks) in a small restaurant bar. They had me set up in front of a very large screen TV, which was turned off while I played. One night the owner, who was really into the Winter Olympics that year, decided to turn on the TV while I was playing. I have a photo of me playing with a downhill skier in the background.

Did you make him buy you a pie? (Those familiar with Julian will understand)

Just had another OMG gig moment. Had a gig booked for tonight, had to be at the club at 9 AM to set up and sound check before they opened. Got there and there is another band already set up. We had been gig-jumped! shocked

I had two choices: shoot the guy from the other band like the dog he is, or leave and reschedule. We left.

Having some fun now! grin

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
