I realize this has probably been covered a dozen times, but I have to be having a blonde moment here...lol I have a song completed in BIAB (All tracks are RT). I'm trying to save that and reload into Realband. BIAB only allows me to save the song as mysong.mgu, and when I try to load that into Realband, i get nothing but the chord chart???
And on kinda the same topic, how does the export audio to sequencer supposed to work?
Thaks in advance for any help...:)

You have to RightClick on each RealTrack and save each one as a wav file separately in the same folder.
Then open the MGU first in RealBand.
Once it is loaded, IMPORT each wav file one at a time to a selected track using the Wave Files command in the File menu, "Import Audio".
There may be another way, but that's what I've been doing and I"ve been doin' alright.

Could be a hard drive problem there, senn5.
Disk may need defragged or the disk in use may be kind of full, etc. etc.
Disk may be too slow or not enough buffer, too.
Or it could be something else like not enough RAM.
Certain Virus Scanners have been troublesome in the past, too.

Thanks for the input Mac. Not so sure its any of the above though. New install of vista and new install of BIAB and RealBand. Over 2gb of ram on a 1tb drive. I did get it working another way. Once I save the song from BIAB as an"mgu" file all of a sudden they now load in Realband with ALL the realtracks in tact. It woudn't do that before?? Go figure.......lol........ its working like its supposed to according to the help file. Still can't for whatever reason save them though the way you mentioned. Thanks again for reply.

In addition to above, I just got it to work your way Mac playing around in the DXi synth settings. It renders and saves the file, and the wav works perfect. But unless i shut down BIAB and restart, the original sounds like "@#$%^" I have no idea on how to set up this DXi stuff, so maybe you have some suggestions there as to how to set it up properly. Thanks in advance...:)

*If you are attempting to leave BIAB running but minimized while opening RealTracks, then that is your problem.
Shut down BIAB before starting Realtracks.
Because they will start a catfight for your MIDI and Audio resources. They use the same engines under the hood.
If you MUST run both at once, try using MME sound drivers on at least one of them if not both. ASIO can be a "one man dog" driver.
Use of the VSC DXi can also sometimes be problematic, although I have found that it can actually start two different instances when selected as default synth in the two programs at once. This too, can sometimes get problematic, but will often work, just don't be surprised if all of a sudden the VSC DXi synth being used by one program starts receiving commands from the other program or the like.

I;m not running both at the same time. I'm convinced it is in the settings for this dxi thing. I have no idea how to use it, i think is the biggest problem...lol
Everytime i set something in there is when "access violations" start and BIAB locks. If i stay away fom the DXi everything works perfectly. But if I try to save any track as a wave, it says I have to choose to run the dxi??? What options am I missing here??....lol

Direct "Rendering" of a file goes thru the VSC DXi.
If you are using Vista OS, you may have a problem with the VSC DXi and how it was installed, etc. -- try disabling User Account Control for one thing. You may or may not have to reinstall the VSC DXi after doing that, see if it works first.
I don't do direct Rendering much, as it will make all the MIDI tracks (if any) use the VSC for sounds. Since I use mostly hardware MIDI synths here, I have to bite the bullet and do what we have had to do with hardware MIDI synths from day one, which is to arm an audio track and jack the output of the MIDI synth's audio to the Line Inputs of my soundcard and record them from beginning to end in order to "render" them to audio. For reasons that are beyond me, many users today seem totally upset over having to spend three to five minutes actually recording their song vs the "instant gratification" of the direct rendering thing.
But if you want to render all Audio RealTracks you don't have to go the route of the direct render, you can instead RightClick on each RealTrack name and export each track as a .wav file. Import them one at a time into your sequencer to continue working with them or mix them down to a single stereo file. Or make an mp3, etc.

Hello Senn,
Note that if you have Options-Preferences-Song Generation "Auto-generate song when MGU opened" unchecked, then you need to press the [Generate] button when you open the MGU in RealBand.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
