Is anyone using the ezdrummer program with biab or pt or rb? If so how does it work. Is it ram intensive? Any help will be appreciated!

As luck would have it, I bought this just a little before BIAB came out with Real Drums. After getting so caught up in Real Drums, I never even opened the EZ Drummer package. However, I know several others here have mentioned using it, so you should be able to get some advice.
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors

it should work great, a lot of people here use it but keep in mind, you wouldn't use it with Biab unless you want all your midi instrument tracks to sound like drums because Biab has just one midi output port. Just to add confusion to that statement though, now that we have so many Real Tracks you could do it if all the other instruments were RT's. Normally though, you would use it in Real Band or another sequencer because they have multiple output ports. Ram usage is a relative thing. It probably loads the drum samples into ram like my Jamstix does. I have 2 gigs so no problem but if you only have 256mb or something low like that, then it would be a big problem. For any modern DAW I would think 1gig of ram would be the absolute minimum when working with software synths that load audio samples.

EZ Drummer loads all of its samples into memory, so it can have instant access. I would say 1gig is the minimum to run it, and keep the system running smooth.
I have all the EZX packs, and the biggest one takes up 319mb of memory. Of course if you add the Latin Percussion kit that will total 588mb of memory used, so you can see that it WILL eat you memory up quickly running more than 1 kit.
Hope this helps!

One slight issue I've had is that although BAIB drum output and EZDrummer are both meant to be GM compatible, they don't always agree with each other about what note plays what instrument. You can get round this in SONAR with custom drum maps, but I have no idea whether RB supports these – I have RB, but wouldn’t ever use it for that sort of thing.
The basic sounds of EZD are really good – with a good basic midi drum track (of which BAIB has hundreds now languishing as folks change to Real Drums and there are thousands come with EZD and each of the expansion packs), a bit of compression and reverb you can get sounds that are at least the equal, and often better. I say better as you, not PG Music’s recording engineer, control the reverb and compression levels, and with EZD’s multiple outs (and natty internal mixer), you can also add different amounts of compression to kicks, snares and cymbals to get drum tracks zinging out of your speakers. Although it is more work than Real Drums, for basic rock/country rock stuff, the combination of EZD and Rayzoon’s Jamstix really gives excellent results, and depending on how much you care about these things, can often be made to sit better in a mix than the premixed, already quite reverb-heavy Real Drums. For instant gratification, though, there is nothing to beat Real Drums!
Just my 2p.
Brian

Hey Brian
I'm interested in EZ drums or Superior Drummer. have you checked out the FUnky expansion pack? If so, what is it like? The demo's make it sound pretty cool....any thoughts?

EZ Drummer is not made to be GM compatible, it has it's own propriety way of mapping stuff, tho it can play back most GM tracks. I have all the EZX packs, and they are all very nice. including the Funky set (the drums definitely have that JBrown sound!) But after 2 years with it the sounds, tho good, are the big limiting factor because what you get is what your stuck with. They are all processed to an extant, some more than others....and FOR ME that is starting to be a limiting factor. I hope that they come out with just some nice, cleanly recorded, straight up - no effect EZX packs so we can have full control over the sounds, while using their great Midi files & player. I also own Addictive Drums, and find myself using them more than EZD lately, especially when you turn down all the room & overhead mics.... And this is all IMHO of course........

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
