I was messing around with a country piano style. One of the random play was a nice piano arp that I would like to use on a certain chord progression.
Is there a way, beside freezing a track, to feature a certain variation of a chord each time you want that variation to play?
I'm not that deep into BIAB but hope there's a feature such as "C3" or some sub set marker for the third variation of piano country style to play.

Simply type the chord variation.... such as C7b9 and you get that variation every time. That's one of the cool things in BB. You can play around with the numerous variations of the chords.

Inversions are different. Since you can invert a chord and get a totally different sound from the same chord.... that, I don't know how to do in BB/RB.

If you hear something you like...certainly freeze it.

Most of what I do uses the straight up plain vanilla chords.....major, minor, occasionally 7th's, 6th's and Maj7ths.

Thanks for the help, I must have not made it clear as to what i was referring to.
If I play any chord there are several different ways that BB can play that chord.
Looking at a style in style maker, every style has multiple possible note arrangements for the chords played, this is what gives the different"feels" to the arrangement.
A "D" chord might be a simple 3 note strum or an involved multi-note arp.
What I was asking,if there is a feature in BB to predetermine the style interpretation of that chord.
As an example, if I wanted to play D,C,G,F in country XZY style. I also want to play that progression over a 16 bar set, But I want every time the D chord is played to play the arp version of that style and the rest (C,G,F) played strummed.
Right now there is no way I know of to do this, as the random feature in style maker kicks in for variety.
The only way I can think out is to edit the style and change the weighting for the instrument, but that a pain, IMO??
I can't always explain what rambles in my head.
Thanks, Wyndham

As stated it is a simple no when using RealTracks.

It is a yes when using MIDI. With MIDI you can get any instrument to play what you want it to play.

Mario, it's not the instrument i wish to change but the style randomize feature in the country style(midi) that keeps me from fine tuning the chord progression to what I want.
I'm sure there's a work around but most likely more involved than worth the time.
Also I'm not the best explaining issues in biab that I'm not that familiar with.
Thanks Wyndham

Wyndham,

Since it's a midi country style, you can go into Stylemaker and assign various weights to patterns to play more frequently.

What I've done in the past is to keep only the patterns, or pattern I want, save as a new style, and then change to the new style in F5 for the desired pattern at the desired bar.

And you're right: it can be too involved.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
