Hey all.
This might or not be the right forum for this discussion but I couldn't find a better place to put this.. I have been branching out a little and trying to integrate different styles into songs, and I have a couple of questions. I have been trying to use some bluegrass styles and say take the bass line and drums from a bluegrass style and blend it with some Cajun music... Well I found a whole heck of a lot if bluegrass stuff to pick from but I see almost nothing in the way of Cajun music and nothing in real tracks for say a Cajun accordion. This actually surprised me a lot cause that style of music has been around a long time...
So.. My question is am I missing something?? Is it tucked away in some other style category??

All you have to do is find an average guitar patch, take all the bass out of it, and a drum kit consisting of a kick-drum and snare and you're well on your way to creating to what we, here in Louisiana, call Chank-a-chank music! *lol*
I'm just kidding... but it does seem like the bands that you hear playing around the southern part of the state are quite simple in their set-up and most do see to be quite light in the low-end of the sound spectrum for some reason.
It's not exactly Cajun or Chank-a-chank but I did find a great style called SWAMPROK that will give you that really great "swamp pop" feel that's also very popular hear, and it DOES have some bass and even a really cool horn section.
There may be more but I'm still a newbie and this is all I've found thus far.
Enjoy!
Yours in the muse, Rutherford

Thought I saw some Zydeco styles as I looked through the styles in the past.
Yeah, I think you can find some in there..... and mixing and matching styles is something I do quite often.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

thanks all for the info...I had never heard of the phrase zydeco before so I looked it up and got a treasure trove of info ... including one unlucky chap who took a offered handkerchief to wipe some sweat off his face..... and I did find a couple of zydeco styles on here.. Thanks GH!! however that is because I am using my old version of 2013 as my laptop went bye bye, and I am using my silly netbook which barely has enough ram to function while I am waiting for the main machine to be fixed...Once I get back to 2014 I will re search for more zydeco styles :)))) I could probably use 2014 on here but I don't want to waste a licence on this machine, as it can barely run 2013 ( if the style is too complex it causes this machine to clip on the audio output) but what do you want for .9 gig ram and a atom processor running xp.....I told you it was an old machine, but at least I can reply with it.

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
