Been playing this song a lot these past couple of weeks on Valentine's gigs. I posted this Funny Valentine back a few years ago but recently added real drums to the mix. It is the first song on the sample music page. As always your time and critique are welcome.

Danny, sounds real good. Guitar and vocals are clear, distinct. Quality's great. Everyone around here now a days seem to know what they're doing.

Great job. Only thing I could suggest is to do some work on the piano. It's a little much at times.

Great sound, and well played too.

I agree with edbulmer, the only thing probably is the piano part IMHO should be someway softer as volume and more subtle as accompaniment...

I wished you and I lived closer Danny. I'd love to catch one of your gigs.

I liked this one, your stuff is always impeccable.

The Pianer didn't bother me. But, if you have the RT Piano, you may want to give it a run and see what it comes up with.

This was excellent, great mix and vocal.

Danny, super vox and mix!

Plus I just love that sweet guitar playing of yours!

Just as soon as I win the lottery I’ve got to get down to your neck of the woods and catch one of your shows.

Ahhh Danny. That's suhweet sounding. Well sung and played. Being a country rocker I'd prefer to hear it in a less jazz swing style. But, this is your gig and it's really great. Really nice guitar playing there. Thanks for putting it up here.

Waiting for May 31. Will fully be retired then.

Danny,
Right now, I'm on my laptop while I TRY to recover files on my new computer. However, the song sounds great on the laptop, and once I get the 'real' computer back up and running, and hopefully with my data recovered, I'll be listening to it there.

I can see why you get all the return bookings.

1st of all thanks for the time to listen and to let me know what you guys are hearing, as many times we hear our own work differently than others, especially our peers. Secondly thanks for the constructive critique as that is what makes each and everyone of us a little better with our next try. With this said when I get sometime on my hands and get back in my studio (for me that is a chore) I will certainly look into the piano tracks, not only on this tune but everything in my book. By that I mean "real piano" replacements where they will work. I have added the real horns on just about every song in my books where they would fit, and the same goes for the new country, bluegrass and blues real tracks, but for some reason I left the piano work for last.

Thanks again fellow BIAB'eans.

PS: Special thanks to you guys who commented on making one of my gigs, that is a wonderful compliment. As I have stated here on many occasions electronic collaboration is nice but the icing on my cake would be to attend some kind of meeting where we could all perform in one big show. Just think of how cool it would be to have a 2-3 day convention where each night we could have a dinner show with performances from the cats on this forum . . . Saaaweeeeeeet!

Nice laid back pipes on this one.

I wouldn't label it as "jazz" though.

"Easy Listening"

"Jazz" should have improvisational soloing in it somewhere...

Nice song, well played. Count me in among the congratulants! If anything, I would prefer a different piano sound. To me it sounds like there should be a bit less chorus. But this is nit-picking, of course. Well done!

Thanks Jepster,

I know what you mean re: the piano chorus . . . here is the story on that one. For some strange reason my pa system produces a better midi piano sound on live gigs when I add some chorus to the BIAB piano track, and sometimes when I am putting a sample tune together to record I just forget to back off of the BIAB chorus from time to time. As live musicians say on stage every now and then . . . hey, good ear guy!

Good Catch.

Nicely done Danny. No wonder you're in such high demand and they get you back time & time again.

Cheers,

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
