Haven't been following posts lately; having a problem with BIAB (BIAB 2014 build 386 on Windows) saving RB bluegrass style at half speed even when changing to a different style. It takes a few style changes and re-launching (equates to time and headache) to get BIAB to reset. Of course this problem decides to pop up when I am working on a time sensitive Christmas project....What's up with this?....Anyone else experience the same issue and come up with a resolution??? Thanks.....

Jim,
The first thing I'd do is to save my current settings so that I can play around with things and then reload my original settings if I need to. To save your settings, the "Save Preferences As" option under the "Opt" menu will do the job.
What I'd try now is the "Return to factory settings", also under the "Opt" menu. After clicking on the reset, you'll be presented with two options. I'd choose the top option as that will keep all sound drivers installed.
Regards, Noel

Seems the problem crops up when I have exported the file to mp3. Then when I re-load/play the sgu file it is at half speed including pitch (like a 33 1/3 rpm record played at 16 rpm for you oldsters). Re-setting to factory defaults each time would be a major headache.

Reset to factory defaults did nothing to fix the problem and it occurs with every file that was rendered to mp3 using BIAB. Appears to be a BIAB bug. Very frustrating.

Jim,
Just to clarify things (I'd like to try and replicate you problem) ...
Did the return to factory settings fix it?
Also, have you tried exporting a different SGU file to mp3 and seeing if the problems persists?
Lastly, try exporting to wma and see if the impact on your system is the same. For what it's worth, I prefer wma. They're pretty much the same size files as mp3 but I think the quality is better. (I suspect this is why PG Music use wma files for the Realtracks in the standard packages.)

Followed the advice to just use WMA format and then converting to mp3 before sharing with others. Also been rendering a separate BIAB safety file (i.e.; TUNENAME-wma) so that the master doesn't get buggered up. The error is still there when just setting up any tune using a real tracks style and rendering to mp3. Even unchecked include audio. So no idea why this is suddenly a problem (hmmm, wonder if updating to build 386 had anything to do with the problem showing up).
Still a few bugs to work out but project is pretty much back on schedule. Thanks for the help.....

Jim,
If you render it to wma there is no need to then convert it to mp3. The wma format is a standard audio format and your friends and colleagues will be able to use that ok. To be honest, I'd avoid converting a wma to mp3 because it involves two lots of compression and this will reduce the quality.
One additional thought that springs to mind regarding the time delay... Do you fully generate the tracks before rending or do you load the song and style and then render without generating the song? This could have an impact on what's happening.
Regards, Noel

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
