I'm having problems with the 'guitar' playing different chords than what's written... I have the embellishment turned off.. it'll show a Gm7, and the piano plays that, but when I mute the piano, the guitar is playing some wrong chord - so I have to go to chord builder and re-do it... this happens a LOT - I normally use the cool jazz style, if that means anything... I also noticed the guitar does not play the +5 note of a 7+5 chord - it plays a straight 7... the piano plays the chord properly.... what's the deal here? I'm using BIAB '08.
Also - is there anyway of altering the rhythm of the piano parts? I use Vibes a lot instead of piano (again, mostly the Cool Jazz style) and it plays sometimes on the beat, but a lot OFF the beat or not at all, and it sounds like 'the band' is making mistakes.... Can I get it to play on the beat ALL the time like the guitar rhythm?
Thanks....

Hi dmrodes
There are several ways to get around your concern
1. Find a piano backing from another style you like and add it to the Cooljazz style in the "Hybrid" feature
2. Many times I find the guitar part and piano part clash - so I choose the guitar in the piano channel and mute the original guitar channel
Hope this gives you other options jazzman

That's something I do to.
Works great.

If I put vibes in the guitar channel, then I 'lose' the guitar part...???
Still want to know why the guitar sometimes plays totally WRONG chords.. and why it won't play the +5 note in a 7+5 chord...
One more thing - I'd like the drums to be 'louder'... I already have them set at the max (127). Do I have to lower the volume on all the rest of the instruments? Raising the 'pan' helps, but then it's only coming out one side....
THANKS!

Hi dmrodes
If you put the vibes onto the guitar channel it will play vibes with the same pattern as the original guitar -and when you revert back to guitar it will play the original guitar patterns
Regarding the "wrong" chords - try another style as there have been rare problems with some mainly early release styles - but if you use Hybrid feature you can combine a correct pattern from another style and keep the Cool Jazz (jazcool. was style disc 5) patterns for the rest
With some "wrong" chords it seems to be that a simpler or basic chord or replace/trick it with an alternative chord sometime works better. It may also be a corrupt file which a "return to factory settings" should help
Are you using RealDrums because you can adjust the global volume of them in the +/- db RealDrums set up page - or - if you are using midi drums then open Opt > Prefences and tick the box near the bottom - Reduce other part volume when clicking past 127" - this reduces the volume equally on all other channels
Make sure that all you other master volumes are turned up on the computer soundcard - VSC DXi etc

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
