Has anyone else experienced this?

In any song now, when I open the Lead Sheet Window and click on a bar....I cannot scroll up or down(using the up/down arrows on keyboard). If I start at bar one, for example,
and hit the down arrow, nothing happens in the lead sheet . But, it scrolls down on the chord sheet(main page). Because when I close the Lead Sheet Window. The highlighted bar is further down the page.

I contacted support with this and my ongoing lyrics problem(see other posts)and they didn't seem to understand.
They said that you can't scroll down in the lead sheet(which is wrong...been doing it for years). Said only horizontal scrolling using bar at the bottom of page. There is no bar at bottom of the page. There is in the Notation window.
Which I think they confused with my problem.

Wondering if this a universal problem or something with my settup.

NumLock isn't on, I trust.

I believe PG Music is correct when they say the arrow keys never did allow you to move within the leadsheet mode. If you don't see a scroll bar on the bottom and a scroll bar at the right, it could be as simple as maximizing the leadsheet window. Click on the little box in the upper right corner of the leadsheet window between the underscore and the x. If that is maximized, you won't see the same icons for the main program behind that window. The key point here is that the leadsheet windows opens not maximized.

Sorry to keep asking basic questions, but are we talking about version 2016? I have another idea if it is 2016.

Matt,
I maximized the leadsheet window(have never had to do this before, so I guess that's why I didn't know it was there. The bar does appear at the bottom and I can scroll with that. BUT, I have never done this before in all the years I have been using BIAB. I have ALWAYS simply used the up down arrows(despite what support is saying) that has ALWAYS worked. I would swear that on a stack of bibles.
I just tried it again with the window maximized. I loaded up three or four songs.
The first song I loaded, it didn't work. The second song I loaded(which is the newest song I have created with 2016) worked. I was able to scroll up and down in the leadsheet window with the up/down arrows. And I thought, "great, it's working again". I loaded a couple more...no dice. Went back to the one that was working and it no longer will not work now either.

Even with the leadsheet window maximized the up/down arrow buttons are effecting the chord sheet page(front page)not the leadsheet. It moves up or down in there.

Knowing about having to maximize the leadsheet window will allow me to do that now. But, it is never how I did it before. And have over 1200 songs I have done that way from scratch.

OK, good so far. Version 2016. Latest update?

I'm not saying there may not be something changed about 2016. I don't think the arrows were ever available, but that's for PG Music to determine and it won't stop you from working if we get the scroll bars running. About the scroll bars, I'm disappointed that you are finding it intermittent even when maximized, but that goes to my next suggestion. In beta testing and then again after the release, some users have noticed that the monitor and the Windows font resolutions make a difference, and it seems to be unpredictable at this point. So:

1. Are you running at the maximum resolution your monitor supports? If not, try that. If so, try one step less. I think this could have been changed when Windows updates, even if you didn't do it.

2. Did you change the Windows, Display, font size from the default of 100% to higher (125% or more)? If so, try setting that back to 100%. I know, global font size shouldn't affect what we're talking about, but it does seem to be something to try in 2016.

3. These settings may be totally the wrong solution. I base these suggestions on unproven speculation to this point. But, you can always change them back.

Matt,
I am running max resolution on the monitor. Always have

Even resetting the defaults to factory has no effect on the lead sheet. I actually prefer 80% on the Chord, Lyric, and Text fonts in the Notation window under.. Options/notation window.. in the lead sheet window. That is what I have run for 10 years or more.

OK. About the fonts, I'm not talking about an adjustment in BIAB, but in Windows, Control Panel, Display.

Are you on Windows 10?

FWIW - on 2015(417) -

When I open the Lead Sheet Window, whatever measure that I had highlighted from the Chord Sheet window shows as highlighted with a red border.

Then as I press the down arrow key, a new measure one row down in the Chord Sheet window becomes the current measure, which causes the Lead Sheet window to highlight that same measure number with a red border.

As I continue to press the down arrow key, a new measure in the Chord Sheet becomes the current measure, with the corresponding measure in the Lead Sheet highlighting with a red border.

Once I'm at the "bottom" of the Lead Sheet (so to speak) another press of the down arrow key causes the next "page" of the lead sheet to come into view.

Hope this helps...

Chris

Yes Chris,
That is the way it is suppose to work and has always worked for me.
But 2016 is not. I just pulled out an old laptop that had 2013 on it. And it works exactly that way!

Thanks for confirming what I have been saying.

I agree with LBL.

I still have BIAB2015 installed on the same machine. I loaded the same song into both versions and the lead sheet scrolls down using the down arrow in 2015 but not in 2016 (the highlighted bar in the chord window moves instead). The song was created with a much earlier version of BIAB.

This behavior occurs whether or not the window is maximised. In addition, in 2016 the arrow keys do not work at all on the leadsheet but simply move the selected bar around on the chord window behind.

Thanks guys. Good clues proving it is indeed changed in 2016.

Continue working with Support to make sure they have all the facts. Sorry, that's all I've got.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
