I've done this before, but C.R.S. ... How do you remove the boxed text
in the edit Notation mode? When I try to remove the offending info, and
select the "Boxed or Regular text" in the "Text Event Type," it doesn't show it, neither is it in the "Verticle Position," where you could or can delete it. Normally, it displays, but there seems to be an issue with simply deleting/editing this info.

Example:

[2 Bright Piano]

Either by choosing "Cancel" or "Ok." In the past, it would show the
text, now when I try, it does not change or do anything. I'm sure I'm missing a step, somewhere?

Please help?

TIA

That worked! I loaded my 2007 version and suprisingly it did not display the boxed text. It also doesn't have that option as in 2009. However, I do recall being able to use the "Insertion Text Section," to do edits and deletes in the 2007 version. Is there an upgrade for 2009 (282) yet? So far it's working for me, as is ....

Thanks again for the heads up,

Wrkinit

I am still curious as to how to delete or modify the information in that portion of the program. According to the instructions, it doesn't seem to work, but as I mentioned initially, I have done it in the past???

The response post indicating to uncheck the box for "display patch names on notation" does alleviate the box altogether, but if you want to edit that info is what I would also like to do, on occasion. Does anyone know how to make this work or is there a bug in that function?
I use 2009 and 2007 for Windows.

TIA,
Wrkit

The Patch Name box only looks like the others, I don't think it is accessible in the same fashion at all.

You could try placing *another* text near where it was and then put what you want in there, maybe it will even be able to be put right in the same place, don't know, but the Patch Name feature gets its data from a completely different place than the other Text Inserts, that's plain. Therefore changing it is very likely outside our abilities as users.

Hi WrKit

If you open the Insert Section Text page and click - Cancel - you then see the inserted text so far and you can highlight and delete the wrong text and insert a new one

That's the problem. In the past, when I tried that it would show the undesireable text, now it won't. When you select or check the box to not show the patch names, it removes that info, but as mentioned, unchecked, it doesn't appear to be a way to modify or delete it now??? However, I do remeber being able to do that....

Still Curious,
Wrkinit (or trying to)

If it did do that, BIAB was broken at the time, I've never been able to get anything there but the Patch Name and I'm fairly certain that is due to design constraint.

Hi Wrkit

I now believe I know what you have been looking for and the answer is a combination of what Peter - Mac and myself have been saying

1. The inserted Patch name box has never allowed you to alter/edit - as Mac states

2. You can turn all inserted Patch names/boxes by unchecking the box in Notation mode - Opt - Display patch names on notation - as Peter states

3. Having done this you can then add back patch names/ instructions etc by using the inserted text method as I described - then you can edit/add/remove

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
