Stoodiodawg is now deceased and somewhere in doggie heaven, but one thing about that old pooch -- she was self-protected in that NObody but me would have ever desired that big, ugly yeller animal. Ugly and as uncaring and as unkempt as me, we bonded immediately the night she showed up at my old studio's loading dock. She was a "Heinz Dog" in breed -- 57 kinds. <g>

I'm happy for you, Sam.

Thanks very much once again everybody. A friend of mine collected her this afternoon and dropped her back to me. She is lying happily under the dining table, as if nothing had happened.

I'm delighted she's back but if I ever catch that woman...

Sam,

Think about the possibilities of leaving the story somewhat unanswered and mysterious. Don't let on that it's about Asta - but combine the loss and return of Asta with the mystery of who this woman really was.

She claimed she was the daughter of a famous violinist.
A yellow coat she wore that night.
We had a little chat she accused me of -------(referring to preference for men)
Then on a walk disappeared right out of sight.

etc. etc.

Could make for a very interesting lyric - combining mystery dog thief with Asta.

Hey Mate. You need to empty out your PM box.

That was an interesting story, to say the least. Tell me, are dogs allowed in drinking and eating establishments in Austria?

Do they have to be on a leash?

Do you have to carry any kind of special insurance on them?

If several others bring their dogs and the dogs get into a fight how is that handled?

Just curious. Also, congratulations on getting your dog back. I wonder what that woman wanted with it.

Hi Russ,
Usually you can take your dog everywhere in Austria. But there are some places like groceries or supermarkets, you shouldn`t bring your dog with. Then the doggies wait in front of the market etc.
You have to take em on a leash, but not all people do that. Dog have to be chipped since a couple of month, new law. So they and their holder can be better found. Many stores offer water bowls for the doggies, so they`re accepted mostly. Austria likes pets, but when they shit on the street we hate it. Most people don`t carry the shit away, but there`s a penalty now (not enough executed, though) if the holder doesn`t take away the shit.

With that insurance thing, I don`t know about it. We don`t have laywers waiting around the corners here in Austria like in the US maybe

I've been following this, great news Sam!
As for taking your dogs with you, it's the same here in Southern California Sandra. We can take our pets almost anywhere but if it's around food, they stay outside. Near the beach where I am, it looks like a dog show around here on the weekends. Outside a cafe by the beach, there's like 10 of them camped out. If you get an outside table then the dog can be with you. Usually no problems. When my lady and I go out for Sunday brunch, it can take us a half hour to get past the sidewalk because she has to say hello to all of them...

In this picture: Asta's portrait

In this picture: Asta and me in Salzburg

It was all very strange. Dog rustling in Vienna? As you can see, Asta is quite a noticeable dog. She is very popular wherever she goes and she is usually always by my side.

Considering this jazz locale is in my district and there was no reason for anybody to be there on Sunday night who wasn't local, the rustler was likely to be challenged pretty quickly. Everybody around here knows Asta and if anyone is seen with her, they are usually very quickly challenged with "That's not your dog - where's Simon?"

The strange thing is that she was 'caught and reported to the City Kennels by a 'passer by''? Asta has a collar with my telephone number on it. Why would somebody not call that not number first, before attempting to find the telephone number of the kennels?

Still, she's back.

Yes, she is allowed into restaurants and just about everywhere, except the supermarkets. They ask that dogs travel on public transport with a lead and muzzle - most people ignore the muzzle part. Asta never fights, except to defend herself from an over-amorous dog that she does not like. She is a great studio dog too - if the music is great, she loves it and wags her tail in time to the beat. She has also been known to show her disgust at bad music!

An interesting story with a happy ending...

Here in Texas we had a traditional way of handling rustlers...you may have seen it in a few movies.

In your case, however, the 'lady' in question appears to have some emotional or mental issues. I'm not Dr. Phil, but maybe she needs some help.

BTW - a sweet looking dog. I'm sure you're very happy to have her by your side.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
