Is there a way for me to have BIAB NOT render a track for playback? For example: on the gig, when I'm playing with a piano player, I mute the piano track. It would be nice, when I loaded up the next song, to NOT have BIAB render that track. It would make rending tunes with real tracks a little faster. Thanks.

Try saving the song using Save with Patches and Harmony command and don't check the part where the RealTrack piano is.

Hmm... the only realtrack option I have is for real drums. Are you looking at the PC version again mac? hehehe.

NO.
Look at what track the RealPiano is on, typically will be the Piano track, but not always.
Then don't check that one in the Save with Patches window and it shouldn't load with the song next time you load that file.
I do that for gigging quite a lot, Mac or PC version. Pretty sure it works the same on the new Mac version, although many of my song folders were indeed done on the PC version.

Ah, I get it now. I didn't quite get what you said before. Anyways, yeah.. that works. But now, I'll have to go back through and change all of my songs right?

In my experience 99 percent of the time the piano track is on the piano track. I mute it all the time, unless I'm playing something else, like a horn. Or if I'm playing keys and the wife is on the flute or horn. So I just right click and mute it, albeit that is on the PC version..

John, Wait, you actually play music with your wife?! Woah. Mine just mostly yells at me. Hehehe. Anyways, what I'm trying to avoid is the long wait time while I render the piano track, when I don't even need it. When I play duo gigs with piano and sax, I mute the piano track the whole night... it would be nice to not have to wait for it to render. A nice preference setting would be "do not render muted tracks."

That's a good plaace to put it, because many folks use the Mute feature for other reasons, such as when doing production work for recordings, working on a mix, etc. Just because I've Muted a part may not mean that I don't want to (re)generate that part.
I think a candidate for you to place on the BIAB Wishlist -- to be implemented in both versions, Mac and PC, if possible.
"Do not generate Muted Realtracks" would be the answer, so that users have the option either way, this is a great idea for live gigging IMO...

Yup, then I don't have to keep two folders of the same tunes... which I'm probably going to end up doing. Hmm... I'm just thinking out loud here.. but it would be nice to have 2 versions of BIAB... the gigging version and the educational version... each with a set of features optimized for that setting.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
