No matter if I create a new song that is 3 measure's long, or I choose one of my exsisting tunes that is less than 10 mins long, I click Audio, full mix, AIFF, then ok, then the program hangs with the spinning beach ball of doom.
I'm using real drums (updated), real tracks (updated), 2009.5 build 8. Any tips or hints?

How long do you wait, Benny? I don't know the Mac program but in Windows, it can sometimes take a minute or two to assemble the final product.

I've been waiting on average a 2-3 mins. Usually what I do is leave it "cookin" then practice a little (since I've already got my horn out). I've got a few errands to run, so I'll leave it running right now. I know I'll be gone at least 30 mins. We'll see!

First - the rendering from BIAB is one of the very best of it's features - real easy and always working for me. I can do all the options successfully on my iMac. Seven minute tunes have taken no longer than about 20 seconds to render.
Second, check your folder permission access (the folder where you sending the files). For some odd reason, when I installed Snow Leopard, access permissions changed on many folders and files. Set the folder permission to Read $ Write.
Third, I'd try using the mp3 render with the mix all option, first. Then try the AIFF...

So, I'm not running snow leopard. I had problems with my other midi programs, so I downgraded back to 10.5.8. Anyways, permissions on my song render folder are read and write, as is the whole BIAB folder. I repaired permissions, just for the heck of it, and nothing is working. here is a link to some screen shots: my screen shots

Humm... I just did a bunch of rendering with real stuff and even threw in some midi - all work rendered well.
Not knowing what hardware or other software you have that may be capturing any sound porting, it's difficult to say. But, if I was having this kind of trouble, I'd do the following: 1. Run a full UNIX maintenance cleaning routine by opening up the Terminal (found in Applications/Utilities) At the prompt, type in (exactly as this shows): sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
That will clean out tons of garbage. If you have a program for maintenance, run that instead.
If it were a Windows machine, I'd say, re-install the program and, maybe in the end, that's what you'll need to do. But, first, I'd check all the setups and one good place to start is to go to the MIDI panel in BIAB and select restore to factory defaults.
Also, you can go to the Activity Monitor and look at everything that's running - Stop any audio stuff that you think may be causing this...

Man you are a mad freakin' mac genius. I clicked on return to factory settings, then tried to do a render, and IT WORKED! Cool man... many thanks!

I think I figured out what was causing the crash. Go to prefs and choose "Pause Play till MIDI (or Key). Then, try to render your song. Instant crash. control, alt escape will tell you the program is not responding. Kills it every time.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
