My win 7 will not access the external audiophile with the result that a lot of files aren't being loaded
I don't want to load all this on to my HD There a note about changing "vista" security settings but I can't find where in the setup of user groups in Win 7 where this is
Can anyone help
Cheers

You are going to have to clarify for me. I assume you have loaded the proper drivers for Win 7, but do you have 32 or 64bit version? Then you say External audiophile (whats that?). Do you mean something like an M-Audio Audiophile 192 PCI card? And then perhaps you are referring to "Run As Administrator", but this security level is only applicable to exe files, not drivers.

Perhaps someone else knows the code and can answer directly.

Good Luck, and welcome to the forum.

OH, maybe you are refering to the Audiophile version of BIAB on the USB?? If so, my bad. IN this case I can't immediatley think of any reason your Win 7 (any version) can't access the USB. These would be standard Win drivers. Do you have the problem with any other USB devices? Can you run the Audiophile version of BIAB on the USB on a differenct computer. Just some thoughts on trouble shooting.

Dan

Thanks
Its nothing to do with my sound card (Audiophile 2496) Installed with win7 drive and works fine
I could run the UltraPlusAudioPhile External HD I got from pgmusic either from my internal HD (C) or from the external HD (E) (UltraPlusAudioPhile from pgmusic) when I was using Windows XP
When I come to load song with files on the E it won't load under Win 7 as it does in XP
I used the option 2 installation from the E Drive to my C Drive
This loads the basic program and files of Biab 2009.5 to my C drive keeping most of the audio files on the E drive this is where the problem is
I get this message "Exception EFCreateError in module bbw.at 000224DE Cannot create file "E\bb\DrumFoldersName.txt" access denied
It seems this is some security program associated with Win 7 in which win 7 won't write to E Drive
Cheers

Hi

Yes, it's a permission issue. BB needs to have permission to read/write files in it's folder. The main factors that affect it are... whether you are logged on as an administrator or standard user, whether you have User Account Control enabled, and whether you are running the main Band-in-a-Box program directly from the external drive or from your internal drive.

I wasn't sure from your last message if you are running BB from the hard drive (if you are running from your C drive, you shouldn't normally see errors like "cannot create drum file"). Let's assume you want to run BB from the USB drive like you were doing on your other system. There are a few options, and all of them are easy to do.

1. You could just download and run this patch, making sure you select the bb and realband folders on your USB drive:
http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm#usb_hd_patch_2009

2. Another option is to disable User Account Control (control panel - user accounts - user accounts...). On Windows 7 there are four levels, and you would probably turn it all the way off. Also note that you need to reboot your computer for UAC changes to take affect - it doesn't always prompt you to do that.

3. Run BB as an administrator by right-clicking on it and selecting that option (you can also right-click on bbw.exe-Properties-Compatibility...and select it there). On a standard account you would need to type in an admin password when you run the program.

4. Fourth option is to install the BB program to your C drive and leave the RealTracks on the USB drive.

There is now a USA drive? Does that involve John Wayne?

The USA came out before th USB. Watch for USC, coming soon I guess. Now we got yer USB 2 which has more thruput and the USA is still going subprime. Once the USA get's it's thruput up my retirement funds may indeed be valid. The only bail out I ever got was in a leaky canoe. I wonder what's in my coffee this morning?

Hey they are all tough. I just thought the evolution of the USB and tracing it back to the USA was, um, funny. Bail outs, throughput, oh well.

Up coming, the USC. I hear they even have a football team. Named after prophylactics, the football team that is. Good pass protection eh? That defense stretches but won't break often. And that, buddy can throttle the thruput a whole bunch.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
