I hooked up a compressor mic (48 V), and get audio from head phones, but no audio is getting to RealBand-where do I go to make sure the Audiobox is selected as the input?

OK, I found out that I 48V turned off and can now record audio- I get a waveform, BUT, I hear it played back at very low volume and then get a message that RealBand has an error and needs to shut down.

Don't know if this is a problem- the Presonic is 24 bit- can RealBand or PTPA HANDLE 24 bit? Answering my own question, I chose 24 bit, 44.1 from the Audio settings window. It scrolls thru the recorded audio, then stops and brings up the "RealBand has encountered a problem and needs to close". When I reopen it, I have to go through and chose everything all over again! The ASIO driver, inputs/outputs- very frustrating.

Have you tried the MME as opposed to ASIO?

...or the presonus may be sending 24/48 and you tried 24/44 .. or the buffers may be wrong, many things to check yet.

Both programs can record 24 bit.

After reading other threads about people using a mixer into a sound card, I think I'll just give up on the USB interface approach and go back to my Behringer 1002 FX into a good sound card- problem is then, how do I record MIDI- my Turtle Beach PCI soundcard has the 15 pin port my midi adapter needs, but I guess some of the M-Audio cards also feature MIDI connectors.

I just tried loading up PTPA 12 and got the exact same results as with RB, so I'll be putting the Presonus USB on E-Bay tonight, then buying an M-Audio soundcard.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Consider the TASCAM US-122 before you rush into it. I have posted something about this earlier today in another thread so I won't repeat it here

USB MICS have proven to be problematic here. Takes a lot to get 'em working and keep 'em working, there are also problems with realtime direct monitoring on some mics that I never was able to solve.

This goes for more than just PGMusic recording softwares, too. Same mics had pretty much the same problems trying to use them with several other brands of recording softwares, some of which are known for being absolutely robust.

As for a better sound interface, if you have PCI slot available, I recommend using that first if at all possible for reasons of sanity and simplicity. The M-Audio Audiophile series cards are known to be good choices, with outstanding driver support and they work and play well with PGMusic softwares as well as mostly all others.

If you simply must have USB connect, I recommend the M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB. It has MIDI and Audio connects on it, built in mic preamps, too. Good driver support.

Be careful about that TASCAM. Great unit, but I am not sure if it is still in production or development. Newer OS, you may be blown out of the water.

Try the PreSonus support forums as well - they are quite good.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
