Up to now, I have used BiaB in the 64bits version... I now tried to open it in the 32bits version, having problems with the plug-ins in the 64bits version, and get the message my copy would not have been properly installed... OK, I download the Ultrapak version again from my PG account, install it again as well as the current patch 804: same result... What can I do? Bernard
As a comparison, go to \bb folder and double-click on BBW.EXE and see if that starts. This is the 32-bit executable file the BIAB uses for starting up the 32-biti version of the program.
Regards, Noel
P.S. Marco's idea is a good one. If you've activated the 64-bit version, the 32-bit version will also be activated. It's not necessary to do them independently.
Of course my version of 2021 has been activated... If I now close the screen telling me to register, I realise the problem may come from JBridge (see enclosed) but I dont know how to get out from this situation... When I try to start JBrige, I end up with a failure notice... Bernard
I've passed the information on to the development team. Hopefully they will visit the thread soon and offer some suggestions.
In the meantime, here's what I'd try.
1. Fully power down the computer (don't just put it onto standby).
2. Restart the computer.
4. Go to he \bb\ folder.
5. Locate BBW.EXE -- right-click on this file and choose "Run as administrator" (mostly this doesn't make a difference but sometimes it does so it's worth trying).
The error "Registry error: Please ensure this product has been installed properly" is usually associated with IK Multimedia products (eg. SampleTank, Amplitube, Sonik Synth)
IK Multimedia plugins require that the host program (eg. Band-in-a-Box) is run as administrator. jBridge also requires this.
Thanks to all for the help... Unfortunately nothing seems to work. I have re-booted and set the run as administrator (once directly within the BiaB program and a second time while opening the program "normally". Nothing changes, I am still required to "register"... Mind you I do not think it concerns a registration in BiaB but more in JBridge. The problem occurs right after the opening and prevents any further use of BiaB... As explained, I think the problem comes from JBridge (see photos), but when trying to re-install JBridge I get only failures, although the program IS located whithin my folder C/Files(86)/VSTs and contains the usual .dlls (32 and 64) that the program does not seem to see. Meanwhile this problem only affects the 32bit Version of BiaB. The 64bit Version is working all right. I think I am going to de-install JBridge and see whether it changes something. I am though a bit reluctant since I do not find any password for it in my files (I bought it years ago through PG Music)and am not sure to be able to re-install it. Bernard
No problem for the password if you have the program it will reinstall itself without asking anything. But even if you uninstall it, it created dll files with 32 or 64 and they are the problem for you. They are often in the Steinberg folder. If you find them move them elsewhere, to see if BIAB 32 starts well. From what I see your Jbridger program must have been moved and you run it with a shortcut that points to nothing. Starts a search on the disc.
No, they are not in the Steinberg folder, (mind you, they could have been there, because I moved them sometime...) but they are definitely in my BiaB folder. I ll be looking whereelse I may have duplicated them... Thanks for your help anyway, hope is rising! Bernard
Yyeeah! it works... Following your hints, I have now deleted a few folders with JBridge and mainly the one I found (using an utility searching for "JBridge") within "Users/Documents/JBridge and containing a number of instructions... When I now load BiaB 32Bit, I get the same screen as before: "Registry error/Plse insure this prog. has been installed properly", but... When I close this screen, I get (free of charge)a new one saying: "JBridge failed to load proxy", aaannd... When I close this screen, BiaB (32bit) works as it should, loads midi songs and find a certain number of my old plug-ins among which Forte dxi... Once again thanks for having shown me the way to salvation!!
Now that Marco has got you up and running, I don't know if this is useful information.

Andrew has described adding a text file safemode.txt to the bb\Preferences folder, then restarting. It will start with Factory Defaults.
Before doing that, though, save your settings under "Options".
Closing BIAB, creating an empty "safemode.txt" file using Notepad and then restarting BIAB could be worth trying. If it doesn't solve the problem, close BIAB and delete the file and then things will go back to normal once your reload your saved settings under "Options".
If you have previously registered jBridge and want the latest version to install, just go to the jBridge site and there should be a link to request a new version. All you need is your registration email and Joao will send you the registered version...no license code needed. Don't just download the demo version from the site because that won't work.
You will receive a file in the mail (and it will have your name on it). The file is double zipped (a WinZip file within a 7zip file if I recall correctly. Unzip until you get the .exe file and then install that file by running the .exe.

John, Thanks for the hint... I have (sent a mail to Joao) and I have (received a quick answer with latest version). Things are OK at my end, now. As usual, I like to see things done and to understand how things do work. I have not been using JBridge the last years and only discovered it again because of this problem of plug-ins which "forced" me to go back to BiaB 32bit... Bernard

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
