Cool song. Great guitar playing. I like the ska feel. It fits the song perfectly. Good lyrics and vocals. I'm sure that video took some work. Good job.

Good one, Ray!

Love the bass and guitar, and your vocal sounds pretty good too, seems you are getting more confident with that.

Nice to hear Katya in the mix also!

Enjoyed the video, very creative.

Hi Ray,

I agree with all who said this is a very good song. I won't say your best, because that has yet to come.
And I also enjoyed it a lot. I disagree with some who said you have to bring your vocals more upfront. They were good (and bright).
The lyrics were very good, although I have to admit I didn't understand all of it in terms of text.

Your video was very entertaining and also a big help to read the lyrics.
You did a nice job on that, although you always say you are too lazy to work on those things. Well, now you were probably rested?

And another thing: you always say your vocals are bad. I agreed with that for a long time, but now I think they are well suited for this kind of music, Ray. So now you can allow yourself to say you can sing!

Have a nice weekend,
Hans

Ray

One of your best vocals, nice to hear it upfront.

An interesting progression and a very well put together video.

Nice guitar solo and solid bass.

Enjoyed.

Hi Ray and team,

Wow! This goes into territory where I've never ventured.

It's mesmerising to listen to and and to watch. The sound is still spiralling around in my head.

I read "edgy" in one of the comments and I agree. "Inventive" is also a word that came to mind (but then I often think that when I listen to your work).

Love the musical journey.

All the best,
Noel

Sounds good to me Ray. Super vocal, bass, and guitar along with a very good mix.

I would not change a thing.

Two thumbs up.

Your creativity is boundless, Ray. We love the way the increase in the tempo helps build the intensity of the message, and what a powerful message it is. Yesterday we were having a discussion about how damaging the need for "power" is with our politicians.

You and Katya make a great team vocally.

As always, your bass and guitar were excellent.

And, yes, those images were indeed scary!

Great BiaB choices also to complement your playing.

Excellent!

J&B

PS Did you take a look at the MST organs? Might be able to find a Farfisa sound for one of them. Back when Bud worked as a band manager in the 60's he became quite familiar with the Farfisa.

The Pygmy Beat Extended.

Might be your best video yet.
Mix is good. I agree that Katya's vocal and the horns could be brought up some.
Nice job on the vocals, the guitar and bass...

That Pygmy Beat Extended thing is really catchy. It sticks in my head for a LONG time after hearing the song.
Cool.

Thanks Floyd,
This was my 1st attempt at ska...interesting that it becomes Pygmy Beat Extended ska so quickly.
You're very kind, as always.

Cheers

Thanks JPTx3,
The video was pretty quick to do actually. As there's no "performance" the synching was easy and it became a matter of story telling with other people's pages.

Thanks Hans,
I'll still prefer someone else to sing/sell my narrative but "needs must". Ta for the vote of confidence.

Thanks Peter,
So far up front I was really nervous.
It seems A major is a good place to play around with progressions and to avoid the centre/root.

The solo was meant to be a place keeper but the chords move a little too quickly for me to play anything other than the roots.

Thanks Noel,
I'd not ventured into ska before this one either. The rhythm is fairly simple but simple things are often the hardest to carry off. I consulted a few ska aficionados and they tell me I lack the muting, chicka and mechanical precision needed but that is was also fine.
Ta for your kind words.

Thanks Mario,
I'd love to have sat Katya's vocal better but mixing bvox is something I struggle with constantly.

Thanks J&B,
I'll look into MST.
On another forum there was consternation about the tempo changes but I saw them as useful gear changes.
The theme of the narrative, abuse of power, is a common thread through history isn't it? sad truths.
Again THANK YOU!

Got it. No jokes then.

Oh, I didn't read it that way.

Sometimes one needs to say, "I hear, appreciate, and value your opinion, but I've deemed this a finished piece and will not be making further changes to it. I will, however, bear your comments in mind in future endeavors." I've wondered how to say that myself, without giving offense.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
