Hello, I've been looking at the update pages for BIAB RB RT &RD, and I'm feeling very confused.

I bought the Everything Pak in January 2009 and have this:

BIAB 2009 (282)
RealBand 2009 (1)
Realdrums 1-20
Realtracks 1-39

If I understand correctly then I should update BIAB to build 287 and update Realband to build 5......???

But I'm completely confused with the Realtracks and RealDrums. The Realtracks seem to be up to 66 now, then 67-82. I thought when I bought the everything pak that I would get all the realtracks and drums that were available. And yet I can't see anywhere that I can download extra realtracks that would match what I've already got (40 onwards for RTs and 21 onwards for RD).

Did these additional tracks all come out last year since January? Am I missing something?

BIAB and Realband are working nice at the moment so I don't want to do the wrong thing and upset the boat. Can anyone clarify the realtrack/drums situation?

Thank you ever so much

You can update the program to the highest level available for your version. And you should, because those updates address and solve known problems.

These updates do not include the RealTracks that are now a part of the BB2010 package, though.

Mel,

2010 with all the new stuff came out just before Christmas. PGMusic still have the Christmas special on offer for upgrades (although you've got to get in before Jan 15). It might be worth considering.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Mac and Noel,

Yes, I've been having a look through some of the site pages and I think I've got the hang of it now - the RT and RD can be bought separately (looks as though I've Volume 1 etc) - individually to get all of the ones I don't have would cost a fortune which I don't have!

But in the everything pak for 2010 it says ALL realtracks (1-82) and All Realdrums (1-29) which would bring me up to date with everything...

Yes 15th January... I'm flat broke though and wasn't planning to upgrade to 2010 immediately, but it's certainly the only economic way of getting all the realtracks and realdrums (which is all I want really).

Hmmmmm.

I guess I've got 4 days to think it over!

Thanks again

Mel,

Mac will correct me if I'm wrong, but you probably only need the UltraPlusPak as the EverythingPak 2009 that you have should have all the soloists, melodists, styles, etc.

Unless there's a likelihood of import tax in the UK, I'd encourage you to purchase the USB drive version of the UltraPlusPak. This includes everything and you simply install from that; or even install BIAB/RB to run from the USB drive. (Given that there are now 80 gigs of files in BIAB, I decided that it was easier to keep them in a single location rather than on a million DVDs.) The total cost of the USB drive plus international delivery is US($139 + $25 = $154). If you decide on the electronic download option, the UPP upgrade is $139.

It's money really well spent. You'll be rapt.

All the best,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
