I can't help you with this problem. But I'd like to add that I downloaded an advanced Build 923 last week. When I tried to open a current song I got the NONAME.SGU box that contains three click boxes: Yes No Cancel. I'm not sure what this box indicates about the song I tried to open. But I clicked on each of the three boxes on three successive occasions and nothing happened. The song is still listed in the BB file with others I've written this year, but BIAB will not open it, nor rename it, or give me any hint on what to do. An additional note: this happen yesterday; I couldn't open any songs then; this morning I can open other songs, but still not the song that started this whole process and on which I get the NONAME box. (Yes, I've reported this to Support, haven't heard back.) I reverted to Build 922 - made no difference.
What the heck is NONAME.SGU anyway, and why can't I find a reference to it in the 2022 manual?
Does this happen every time you try to enter MicroChords? Also, does this happen in different song projects?
Chantelle, I would not say it happens every time I use MicroChords. But the issue is not limited to one song project. If you play around with it I'm sure you can reproduce it yourself. Just be creative with the dialog box inputs. And the error message below preceded the crash.
PS. I seem to be pretty good at ferreting out bugs in BiaB. Any chance of hiring me as "Chief Engineer and Supreme Manager for Software Quality Control and Bug Finding"? I don't need a corner office, just a free upgrade for every bug I find

Try running Band-in-a-Box as administrator. You can do this by right clicking on the Band-in-a-Box shortcut and selecting Run as administrator. Do you still experience the access violation error?
I think Jerry has it. An access violation error in BIAB can often be remedied by Running as Administrator. Try it. I believe we have established there is no downside to doing so; we just had a recent discussion about this.

Knowing if it's a one time crash or not does help too. Sometimes random crashes happen in programs. It's not ideal, but it can happen - if it's only happened once using this specific method and is not reproducible by following the same steps again, I wouldn't worry about it. But, if you're getting a lot of access violations carrying out all kinds of executions in the program (as implied by your subject title), then you can certainly try setting the program to run as admin as mentioned above - it has been enough to make them go away for some users in the past.
Actually, that link has been disabled since it goes to a restricted access page. In a subsequent posting, it was indicated that if the OP wants the beta he just needs to contact PGMusic directly. But thanks for the help anyway.
I tested it twice and nothing... until I looked in my downloads and there is was multiple times. My bad. But this may be because you and I have "access rights". But what do I know..
Yes, true. We also sometimes can provide them over e-mail in specific circumstances if they're not officially released yet (such as in the case that we know a bug is resolved that someone is experiencing in an older patch that the new patch remedies). But we do of course note that even if it's not officially released on the support page that it's still being tested and is considered a pre-release patch.
Thanks Ember, understood. That's exactly how I interpreted the item. Not an official release, but a way to possibly resolve an issue that a user is experiencing.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
