Given a situation where you have two A sections of eight bars but with different last two bars, common in songs. In written notation I can get the usual "1] ----------| 2]-----------| (the best representation I can do on the computer keyboard. When using the repeat function in BIAB and displaying in Chord sheet fake mode, after tweaking I can get the track to PERFORM repeats but I can't get it to display a visual indication of the 1] and 2] above. The repeat sign :|| shows, buit that's all.
Is there a way to visually indicate in fake sheet mode/ chord mode, where the repeat alrterations are?
We would recommend using 1st and 2nd endings for this. This would allow you to use the same chords/notation for the first 6 bars of the A sections, then display the first variation in the 1st ending, then the second variation in the 2nd ending. I'll link to a helpful video tutorial that outlines how to do this in Band-in-a-Box:
This is what I am already using, but I can't see anything in the chord sheet to indictate that the two bar phrases are the first and second endings. They just appear as ordinary bars. This means if I return to the chord sheet after a break and read it, there is no indication of the repeat and no way to know, (in notation you get repeat "1" and "2" markers).Repeats are "invisible" in chord mode and therefore misleading.
OK I found the numbers. They are Miniscule! They are obscured when highlighting bars too! IUs there anyway to make them bigger? My monitors are 49 inches and they are still very very tiny. This feature needs work.
I do not see the controls you indicate for size and I am not confident that they will alter the size of the font used without altering everything else. Please explain which one and hoew to show the buttons. Is there anything in display settings? I am using latest 2022
I found the controls you cite, though they were not near the mixer but in the bottom rhs of screen. They only enlarge everything not these miniscule numbers. I am still stuck with this feature
I see. In Band-in-a-Box, click | Options | Return to Factory Settings | Return MOST to Factory Settings |. This should reset the view and make those endings more visible.
ZeroZero, "return to factory setting" is like chicken soup to BIAB. Not drastic at all. Everyone does it all the time. Like an apple a day keeps the .... well you get.
You're correct ZZ, this is not a return to factory settings problem. Jerry, please do that procedure yourself and post a pic of what it looks like because I've been complaining about this for over 20 years and if there are some new controls for this that have not been announced I want to see what it looks like. The display/print sizing for those repeats are too small and to crowded with the chords with no way to adjust it. Same issue with the Coda sign too. Way too tiny. I use this function to print fake book style charts for use on stage but I have to use a workaround.
What I do is remove all repeats, 1st/2nd endings and codas. Lay out the chords the way they would look IF all those signs were there then print it out leaving a 1" margin on the left side and hand write the usual fakebook type notes along with the 1st/2nd endings and anything else needed. Of course when I do that it makes the playback all wrong so I have to make a copy of the song first so now I have two versions, one for correct playback and one to create a chart that I can actually read.
Jerry I don’t want to return to factory settings, I just want to be able to read the repeat. This is too drastic an option and probably would not work
I am not addressing the problem in this thread, only the idea that Return to Factory Settings is drastic. If your BIAB version is within a few years of current, when you do the RTFS, you are first prompted to Save your settings. Then, after doing the RTFS, you can see if the problem is solved, and Load them back, then see if the problem returns (I can’t recall a time when it did).

Bob
Thank you Bob at last some sense. This is a SERIOUS issue for BIAB and it is making repeats UNUSEABLE here. All the answers above are not solutions. It needs fixing and some ackknowledgement by PG would be good
After reviewing this thread, it appears that this has been a problem for some users for quite some time. We are happy to try and make these options available in future releases of Band-in-a-Box if we are aware of a need for them. I will be happy to submit this information to our development team to see if they can go about adding an option to increase the size of the repeats/1st-2nd endings. In the future, please add your requests to our wishlist forums here: https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm&c=3
One can see from my pic that this is not a wish for a new feature, but at several resolutions a bug. The first and second endings could be improved too to make them more clear. A miniscule number in the chord sheet is clearly overlookable when sight reading. In notation, they are signified with an additional line covering the two bars.
We understand and appreciate your input ZeroZero. As seen in the image that I have shared in this thread, Band-in-a-Box is displaying 1st-2nd endings on the chord sheet as designed. We also understand the differences between standard notation and the way that Band-in-a-Box displays 1st-2nd endings. If users would prefer them displayed differently, a request will need to be made to add that option as a new feature. As stated before, I will be submitting this request to our development team.
It is important to remember too, that certain display settings made in Band-in-a-Box can and will affect what is seen on screen. If you have a display preference and it is inhibiting any functions in the program, please reach out to us via email at support@pgmusic.com and include your current preferred display settings and we will do our best to assist.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
