I like the new drag and drop feature (except that i'm using cubase and therefore must go through an extra step of dropping first into an explorer window... steinberg's fault, not pg music). I use the chord output track a lot when I start doctoring up the biab midi in cubase. Some vsti's I use (RealGuitar and VirtualGuitarist) can be triggered from the chord track. I s there a way to drag and drop the midi chord output track or do I have to do it the old fashioned way by exporting the whole midi file to disk? Not a major problem, but might be slightly more convienent.
btw, I thought I posted this question earlier today, but I can't find it anywhere, so please accept my apologies if this ends up being a double-post.
Thanks, Mikie

Welcome to the Forum, Mikie. This is your first post in eight years of being registered?
Not sure if this will work for you, but check out Options, Preferences, OutputCh (short for Output Chords).

Hi Matt, It doesn't seem like eight years, but the older I get the quicker the years go by. Up until now someone's always previously asked the questions and there are answers so that all I have to do is search the forums or the documentation.
Thanks for the reply, but it's not quite what I was asking. Making the chord track isn't a problem, I was just wondering if there is a way to use the new plugin mode drag and drop feature to get that chord output midi track into my sequencer program in the same way that we can now do with the bass, piano, guitar, etc.
Thanks again

Oh, OK. I thought perhaps you were trying to trigger the VSTis in real time.

BiaB's Drag and Drop works with Midi for me just as well as it does with Real Tracks ... into Acoustica Mixcraft, anyway.
Mixcraft recognizes it as Midi input and corrects the default bpm too.

You can switch on "output chords" as in Matt Findlay's post, then use "clipboard" in the .MID dialog box. That gets you the whole midi file, including tempo and part markers as well as chords. I usually copy this first to SONAR, then the real tracks. That way, the SONAR file is set up properly (right tempo, parts marked, tempo changes actioned) and the chords are in place on a midi track for Virtual Guitarist. You can delete the tracks you don't use. It's a few steps quicker than exporting a midi file, them importing it. I would assume Cubase, Reaper and other DAWs work in a similar way.
Hope this is not insulting your intelligence!
Brian

Hi Fifer, Does this clipboard approach to the midi file export avoid BIAB regenerating the Realtracks? That would be a real clincher for me!

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
