It's painless!

Caveat: Their beer is 6% and they don't mention that in their travel posters. I got a severe dose of Labats Blue Flu after my first venture across the border.

They also talk funny, eh?!

I had to look it up: USA beer is mostly around 5%, although it can range from 3 to (wow) 13. So I guess your statement sounds aboot right.

To make this thread music-related, strong beer might affect how you enjoy concerts…

Matt, my late brother-in-law, Arnie Miller, was GM of Rainier Brewing Company in Seattle. Their beer was limited, by law, to 3.2% by volume. Anything over that was considered liqueur and only available as such.

At that time, they were only allowed one brand name per city block so Rainer was sold in at least 6 brand names that I can still recall. Interestingly, it all came from the same vat!

When my band traveled up there I was fortunate enough to um, "hug", several Canadian girls...

They are also polite (except Montreal)
I'm close enough that I have access to Canadian beer pretty easily. Most of it is sold here, and if not;

One time (funny story), we went across the border with no intention other than pick up some Molson XXX ..
we paid for the border toll TO Canada, but when we went thru customs they rejected my buddy (he had a divorce going on and BS charges against him at the time in IL).

So they told us to turn around and go back and pointed the way .. which was between the Tollbooth and the Duty Free liquor store. <grin>
So we turned around, picked up the beer, and went back toll-free and VAT free.
Mighty polite of them to not charge us a toll to go back since we weren't allowed in!

I considered it a win, my buddy not so much.
//He lives in Ireland now so said beer is a lot harder to come by for him, but I bet he isn't complaining

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Back in the day we used to go to a beer garden's flat roof top Clifton Hill street in Niagara Falls Canada and drink Canadian beer. Those were the days!

I think I was born in the wrong country as I like Canadian football better than our football and the only sport I really follow is hockey.

Both of my folks are Canucks so I take poetic license and tease them mercilessly. Living in WA State at the time made weekend excursions frequent and always enjoyable.

We have a gig in a huge RV Resort twice a month, and all winter long about 300 of those spaces are filled with Canadians.

We get a lot of hugs from Canadians. They are friendly, warm, and a great audience. We've been invited to stay in their homes when we visit Canada.

A few years ago, I drove across the border on the way to Montreal and the Canadian border guard asked what we planned to do in Canada.

I answered, "We are musicians, we play for Canadian tourists every winter, and we thought we'd bring some of your money back." That brought on a quick smile, some pleasant small talk, and the start of a nice vacation.

I've been to Canada many times and to all the provinces but Nunavut, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and PEI. We spent too much time in Labrador and Newfoundland and time ran out so we didn't get to PEI. Next time.

I've always found the Canadian people to be pleasant, polite, friendly and gracious hosts. I'll be bringing some more of your money back when this COVID thing is well in the rear-view mirror.

We played 12 weeks at a time and I LOVED being up there. The people were great and we hit so many small towns we were as close as they were going to get to seeing the real bands playing the songs we played. Springsteen, Huey Lewis, Stones, Bryan Addams (against my will), Genesis... And when we hit them with the songs or singer wrote in earlier years of the band they loved them. The running jokes changed some to where we made fun of "Timmy's" a lot and "the beer store" which we never heard of. Great folks to play for. With a singer as charismatic as that band had, we often ended up with people from the crowd helping load the truck on Saturday night. And buying us pizza! I never had ham and pineapple pizza until I went up north. Now it's one of my top 2.

Robin Williams did a great bit about Canadians and their generousity. If we yanks would complain that it's too far to drive to Vancouver, they would simply say: "We'll fix it, eh!?"

Our International convention was held in Vancouver and 50,000 of us overwhelmed the city so those wonderful Canucks opened their homes to us at no charge. The city was totally gridlocked but we were made to feel welcome. My family of 6 stayed in Port Coquitlam.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
