This is easily one of my all time favorite Christmas Hymns. I recorded this a couple of years ago in an acoustic version. Hope you enjoy it. I don't recall much about the band. I do remember that I'm playing some of the guitar and all of the mandolin on this. BTW: I submitted this in an edited version ( no drums or steel, and edited for length ) to a radio show on our local Raleigh country station....WQDR. The show is totally Bluegrass, (The Pinecone Bluegrass Show) hence the edits.... and the host of the show took it and spun it for all to hear. https://www.947qdr.com/shows/pinecone-bluegrass-show/ Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear it. love the build up. and how you bring in the drums mate.
all i could think of listening was how great a church choir would be//sound picture behind the lead vocs...or maybe an interplay tween lead vocs n' the church choir.

This is really a great Silent Night version
I like it very much
Especially because it is played in a very varied way
The guitar/mandolin solos are very nice
Sounds all excellent

Man, this is really nice Herb. The intro is pretty long, so at first I thought it was going to be an instrumental, but gosh you did a really good job on the vocal - particularly with such a difficult song to sing (for me at last). I've always loved this song, but it is very difficult for me to sing. I loved the instrumentation in this as well. Great job with that mando. Merry Christmas!

Herb...beautiful rendition of a classic carol...super vocals...the instrumentation was a perfect country/blue grass rendering...the acapella ending was perfect...loved your arrangement...so well done!

This is an outstanding bluegrass version of Silent Night.
Nice chops on the guitar and mandolin.

Like Brad, I thought this was going to be an instrumental, but then you started singing at 1:35. Really a great job on this, I enjoyed it a lot. I wanted to listen to the other Christmas song you mentioned but herbhartley.com isn't working. Thought you might want to know. Happy holidays!

THanks again to the folks who have listened and commented...
That's weird..... My website is actually up and running.... I accessed it from my phone using the android OS and chrome, and I got into it from Explorer on my computer.... however, it does appear to be not working using Firefox OS on the same machine.... must be something on their end. Try using a different browser.

W-O-W. Fabulous. One of my favourite versions of "Silent Night", already. I must hear it again, but wow. Hats off. You manage to keep our attention in this well-known carol by changes in orchestration, etc. ... and the singing is fantastic, the feeling behind the notes and words shines through. What am I to say, except "wow"? :-) Sincerest congratulations, this is genuinely superb.
